Relax and Unwind
Adventure in Yakima, Wine Country, WA, US
Our stay at the Oakshire Guest House was a much-needed retreat. Driving in, we were surrounded by beautiful large trees on either side and the grounds are so well kept. Cate, the host, provided us with easy-to-follow directions.
In the morning I enjoyed a cup of coffee on the back patio while our girls explored the backyard. They found fish, quail, frogs, dragonflies, and even a wood pecker. We all enjoyed the hot tub and the girls loved playing in the tree house. Cate stopped by with freshly baked bread and farm-fresh eggs. It was such a warm welcome!
The property has so much to offer. Between the hot tub, tree house, movie room, creek, animals, and orchards we could have stayed on the property for the whole trip! That said, we spent our Saturday evening exploring downtown Yakima. We ate at a great taco truck and stopped in at Hop Capital Brewing. The atmosphere was a lot of fun and the girls had a great time playing games. We finished off our night with a movie and popcorn.
On Sunday, we woke up and had a delicious breakfast before heading out for a hike. It was the perfect end to a rejuvenating time for our family. We felt so grounded and present and hope to be back again soon!

- Hike
Just a short nature walk away from home is the beautiful organic orchard. The apples were so good and our girls ate quite a few!
We stumbled upon El Taco Perron while driving around. The tacos were SO GOOD and the service was great! We ordered the Carne Asada Tacos. They were filled perfectly and the salsas were spicy and delicious.
Hop Capital has a vast selection of drinks. We ordered a sour, a Hazey IPA along and some delicious appetizers! The girls enjoyed playing the tabletop ringtoss game and bags. We all left with a smile on our face as well as happy stomachs.
We really enjoyed this hike! We found a few cacti and the views of Yakima are beautiful!
