Additional Information

For those coming for nature and birdwatching, this is a great spot to see the birds year-round and bird migrations in the late fall and mid-spring. This valley is full of life from Herons, Bald Eagles, Gold Finch and Red Tail Hawks to coyotes, whales, alpacas, and horses. You'll also probably spot a rabbit, squirrel, or deer. We can’t wait to hear what you’ve been able to see.

The bedroom has a queen size bed with an organic mattress and stone-washed linen sheets. We’ve outfitted the bedroom and bathroom with only the best from our 100% cotton robes to high-quality Library of Flowers soaps, and took special care to add thoughtful touches like the antique doorknobs and fur rugs. While the cottage comfortably sleeps 2, some small families also enjoy the space by sleeping on the couch and using the nice air mattress that we have available.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make any meal. An assortment of coffee pods for the Keurig, glasses for a glass of whiskey, and handcrafted mugs are all included. Wash your hands in the 100-year-old sink that we found at the salvage yard, and know that we took care to weave in the history and nature of the place. The dining table will seat 4, with a nearby cupboard for storing food and items as needed.

The living room, which is open to the kitchen features a smart TV, a couch and a vintage coffee table. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine listening to the hooting owls when it’s too chilly to sit on the patio.

The cottage is all one level, and has it’s own private entrance. Park out front and enter the mudroom where you can leave your jackets or grab an umbrella on your way out if rain is in the forecast. You can store your bicycles or other gear under the covered patio.

The Skagit Valley and beyond offers plenty of outdoor recreation including hiking, boating, biking, and all sorts of exploring. March & April are also great times to experience the massive fields of daffodils and Tulips with additional local events in April including the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Skagit Farm, and Pint Roadshow.

Every Saturday starting April through October there are farmers markets nearby in Mount Vernon, Anacortes, La Conner and Bellingham. These markets have both locally grown foods and wares crafted by local artisans. In Mount Vernon there is a makers market one Sunday a month from April through October.

Local events include the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in April, Race Week in Anacortes in June, the Highland Games in July, and Ski to Sea in Bellingham over Memorial Day weekend.
Guest access
The cottage is on our property of 30 acres adjacent to the larger home.

Your stay includes the cottage and the parking area out front. The shed and the two-story home is not included.
Other things to note
Please know there is no public transportation, Uber or Lyft in the area. Doordash, UberEats, and Instacart are also limited.

Forage In The Magnificent Kinlands Garden

An unbelievable pumpkin patch and veggie garden is tossed behind a rustic barn on the south side of the property. We used baskets and shears from the cottage to harvest gourds, green beans, tomatoes and herbs for our evening dinner. Doesn't get much better than that....

As soon as you pull into The Kinlands property, there is a certifiable romantic ambience that feels like a scene ripped straight from The Notebook. There is a rustic barn with an arch that frames and gives way to a pumpkin patch ...
