Welcome to the Bus! With nothing but forest in sight, the bus is nestled on a large private property in the village of Coffee Camp - west of Byron Bay, just outside of Nimbin. The bus offers a secluded and memorable stay, perfect for anyone looking for relaxing getaway, surrounded only by trees and the sounds of nature.

With a very comfortable queen bed, as well as fold out couch, the bus is ideal for a pair or small family looking for a hidden retreat. The kitchen is kitted out with all the amenities, including cookware, gas stovetop, sink, fridge and outdoor barbecue The separate timber bath house lies just behind the bus, with a composting toilet, hot shower, and a luxurious bathtub with a view to the tranquil natural beauty outside. The large deck is perfect for catching the morning sun, sipping an afternoon beverage, or enjoying the stars as you warm your toes by the stone fire pit.

The Northern Rivers offers many activities and destinations right on your doorstep. Whether it's a day spent strolling through the quirky town of Nimbin (10 minute drive), or perusing stalls at the iconic Channon market (15 minute drive). Enjoy local hikes at neighbouring Border Ranges or Nightcap National Park, and have a dip at Whian Whian falls (25 minutes). Just an hour’s drive away gets you to the renowned Byron Bay beaches, offering some of the area’s best food, surf and night life. Or alternatively, spend the day lounging in some of the many nooks in or outside the bus, reading books, playing board games or spotting wildlife.

Additional Information

This 1978 bus has been lovingly restored with almost entirely recycled materials, all sourced locally to ensure minimal impact on the environment. The electricity runs 100% off solar and all water is caught on site. No WiFi is provided (but what better way to escape?) although Telstra 4G reception is available. All linen, blankets and towels are supplied. The property can be found via Maps, but specific directions will be messaged once booked.

The property is situated on Widjabul Wiabal country of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Really happy with the tranquil escape in the bus. Such a unique experience! The bath and fireplace with natures TV was unforgettable! Only thing it was missing was a mirror. We explored Nimbin, Bangalow, Clunes, and Bexhill quarry. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Loved our stay in the coffee bus.
We are building a bus also, so was a great little trial run!
Absolutely loved how much space and privacy we had, you can't see any other houses from the bus, plenty... of space for my son to ride his bike and space to walk and find sticks for the fire.
Bath was such a beautiful relaxing experience.
No light pollution meant I could sit out at night with all the lights of and enjoy endless stars.
Comfy bed, beautiful view, simple few days.
There is reception but it can be patchy, wasn't an issue for us.
The drive way could be a struggle if your car is super low to the ground, but my 2wd van made it up fine.
8 minutes to Nimbin town was nice to grab supplies.

Bugs scared the crap out of us on the first night but once we found the bug spray we were all good lol. Lovely place, beautiful atmosphere! Waterfalls were by far the most magical place.

Inspired by a book, I set out in 2020 to build my own quiet escape in nature. After months of searching for the right vessel, I found a run down bus, rusting in a paddock a few hills behind my parents property. Instead of letting the bus wither any further, I bought it, with the hope of turning it into something great. Nearly two years of work later, with plenty of help from my incredibly handy parents, our idea has come into fruition. This 1978 mechanical beast has been lovingly repurposed with almost entirely recycled materials, all sourced locally to ensure minimal impact on the environment. The electricity runs 100% off solar and all water is caught on site.

Nimbin Rocks

Some 20 million years ago this region was a hotbed of volcanic activity with eruptions from Mount Warning (Wolumbin) Tweed Volcano leaving behind the Nimbin Rocks, volcanic extrusions of Rhyolite, just outside the caldera wall that remains from those ancient explosions. Nimbin Rocks are extremely significant to the local Bundjalung people, to whom the rocks were the home of the Nmbngee, or Clever Men and young boys were initiated there. The Aboriginal dreaming story can be read at the Nimbin Museum.

Channon Markets

The Channon Craft Market is held on the second Sunday of every month from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. We made the mistake of arriving at 2:00 pm and an hour was nowhere enough time to browse the 100's of stalls. This is easily the best market we've ever been too, and every second stall had the most epic and unique handmade goods.

Nimbin Candles

Nimbin Candles have been producing non-toxic, hand-dipped, traditionally made candles since 1973. The shop is basically in the factory so you can watch candles being made while browsing the many unique and colourful candles and beautiful scents. They have rad tee-shirts for sale too!
