Additional Information
Power:
The hut at Ruffy is off-grid and solar-powered. Please be mindful of this. There is enough power to charge a laptop or a phone, but hairdryers or other high-voltage appliances will likely short it out.
Phone and Wifi:
There is no wifi provided at the property. Phone reception is limited. You can expect a few bars with Telstra and little to no signal with Optus or Vodafone.
Cooking and Food Storage:
There is a small car fridge and food storage box located inside the hut which will keep food cool. There are several options available for cooking:
1.) The wood stove can be used as an oven and a stovetop.
2.) The gas trivet located in the old stone oven (outside) can be used to quickly heat up a kettle of water.
3.) There is a large gas BBQ located behind the hut near the shower.
4.) You could even go old school and cook directly on the outdoor fire.
Cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are provided.
Bathroom Facilities:
While the hut has hot and cold running water, please note that there are no bathroom facilities (toilet, shower etc.) within the hut.
These are located nearby:
1.) An outdoor bath directly outside the hut with a fantastic view of the night sky.
2.) A semi-enclosed, stone outdoor shower 10 meters up from the hut. A seperate electric pump ensures that the pressure hits the spot.
3.) A compost toilet is 20 meters away from the Hut. If you haven't used one of these before it is very similar to a normal toilet, and doesn't smell. Instead of flushing you simply do your business, put in half a scoop of sawdust and spray with a special formula (provided) that helps the poo to break down and not smell.
4.) A basic hand basin and mirror outside the hut.
Parking
Parking is on site, near the hut. There is space for two cars.

Our stay at the hut was more than amazing. We arrived on Friday afternoon driving from Melbourne, getting there and checking in was easy and straight forward. Surrounding country towns and winery’s ar...e beautiful it’s just a bit of a drive anywhere, we still loved being in the middle of nowhere which added to the experience so it was not an issue at all. It was so nice to disconnect from the city, we made a meal over the fire with a bottle of wine and played board games, slept in and enjoyed the nature. We couldn’t have left happier, we had such a nice time

Was a great weekend away in the cosy little hut. Cooking on the fireplace, outdoor bathing and no neighbours in site, very relaxing.

Here are some details about the adventures nearby. Refer to the map for their location.
Polly Mcquinns Waterhole
Picturesque Polly McQuinns is located on the Seven Creeks. It is four kilometres southeast of Strathbogie and comprises a reservoir, weir, bridge and a pleasant area around the water. Once a natural creek and large deep-water pool, the creek has been dammed on the northern side of the road, creating another large water body.
Mt Wombat Lookout
Mt Wombat lookout offers excellent 360 degree views of the area from the plateau on top of Mt Wombat (799 metres). The Waranga Basin and Goulburn Weir at Nagambie are both visible from the lookout.

Gooram Falls
The Gooram Falls is a beautiful place to visit for a swim and picnic during summer or to rug up in winter and enjoy the views of the rock pools and the water cascading over the rocks. The Gooram Falls are west of the Strathbogie Tableland on the Euroa-Mansfield Road. Two-wheel drive access to the carpark is fine all year round.
Balmattum Hill Walking Track
Walk to the top of the Balmattum Hill track for a rewarding view of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Mount Sugarloaf
Mt Sugarloaf is located at the end of Mt Sugarloaf Road and is accessible by car or via the Mt Sugarloaf Ridge Walking Track. The summit offers spectacular views to Melbourne.
Authentic Panini In Seymour
Hanging for a good coffee and hearty sandwich, we consulted a local friend for the best cafe in town. They immediately recommended Baracca Lane, a small Italian deli on the main street of Seymour. The coffee was good but the meatball Panini was something else entirely, would make the drive again just for that.
