Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park
Explore the remains of house sites and puddling machines to the gold mines and gullies that produced up fortunes, Australia's first national heritage park contains intriguing stories of a golden past and preserves much of its gold-rush character.
Spring wildflowers, picturesque drives, bushwalking, cycling, guided tours and gold fossicking are some of the highlights.

Central Springs Track
Formerly a gold rush town called "The Junction” this spot is now a destination for swimming, bushwalking and picnics. If you’re keen on a walk, there are many that branch from this location. We chose the short walk leading to the top of nearby cliffs, giving a fantastic view of the river below. Don’t forget to try the mineral water flowing from the spring.

Fryers Ridge Circuit
Fryers Ridge Circuit is a 19.1km, grade 3 Circuit hike located in Fryers Ridge Nature Conservation Reserve Victoria. The hike should take approximately 5 hours to complete. Or opt for a shorter hike if you prefer a more relaxed wander through the trails.
Leisure At Loddon Falls
We set off to Loddon Falls, which came by recommendation from a friend. When we arrived there wasn’t a soul in sight. It was a beautiful spring day and the short walk to the swimming hole seemed lovely. Andy recently broke his foot so unfortunately, we were a bit immobile on this journey but the views and scenic drive did not disappoint.
Mt Franklin
Fancy a walk around an extinct volcano? If so, then a trip to Mt Franklin should be on your to do. Here you'll find beautiful trees and views out over the surrounding areas.

Theatre Royal Castlemaine
Established in 1854, Theatre Royal is proud to be one of the oldest continuously operating theatres in the Southern Hemisphere. Originally built to provide gold miners with live entertainment, today the establishment holds a cinema, live music, a bar and a pizza restaurant. Theatre Royal is a must-see if visiting Castlemaine.
