Luxe Retreat with Double Trouble & Bubbles

The door creaked open like a secret being told, and just like that I stepped into a new chapter, shadows and all.

The chic abode was an open-plan stunner, complete with a hidden doorway to the bathroom. Timber walls, dark as the night sky, were softened by carefully curated lighting. I lit the wood fire, breathed in the scent of baked goods from the French bakery, and set off on an afternoon walk through the wilderness before my outrageously fun friend arrived.

No time was wasted once she did. The mood settled in like dusk — fresh, expectant, and full of trouble. A bottle of sparkling red was uncorked, bubbles dancing not only in our glasses but in the outdoor bath too. Laughter spilled into the night as we traded single-girl stories and stitched together dreamy plans for future escapes, the kind only adventurous friends and wide-open skies can inspire.

We woke the next morning feeling unstoppable, ready to take on the world. But first — coffee. Wrapped in coats and conversation, we wandered down to the boutique bakery just three minutes from our slice of luxe living. The morning air was crisp, the kind that wakes you gently, and sunlight spilled through the windows, dancing across the retreat. We eased right into the day.

That afternoon, we packed a picnic and made our way to the nearby Blue Lakes, which shimmered more green than blue beneath the clear winter sun. We lingered on the shore, snacking and watching ducks glide across the water like it was their personal runway. Later, we wandered through the bushland, following winding trails that felt like they’d been waiting for us.

Amber ducked away for a business call while the outdoor tub whispered my name. We swapped places just as the sky blushed into sunset. Dinner was a homemade pizza, thrown together with love and paired with a glass of red. We ended the night fireside, the record player spinning as our bare feet traced rhythms across polished concrete floors. We danced, we laughed, and we raised a toast to the beautiful lives we choose to live.

Here’s to the free spirits, the barefoot dancers, and the wild ones.

The not so 'Blue Waters' was still a pretty spectacular looking spot! I have seen it blue before although this winters day, it was feeling more green. We set up a picnic past the lookout spot and walked around the edge of the lake.

We parked off 'Wallaby Track' and walked in. Was the easiest way into the Lake.

Easy walking trail through a pine plantation with several other beautiful trees along the way. You'll come access 19th-century stables too at the start of the trail.
