*CAMP CO IS A CAMPSITE - due to a few reviews I wanted to be very clear that the space is a camp site and is a rustic “glamping” getaway.*
Camp CO is camping made simple and enjoyable with our off-grid, solar-powered caravan and outdoor living site on the grounds of Cape Otway Homestead. It's settled in the remote trees of the Otway National Park & Aire River Valley. Charlie, the retro caravan sleeps two adults and two children with a double bed and bunk beds. Camping becomes a dream when you have a complete outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, a bathroom with a composting toilet and a warm running shower with views of the eucalypts. Enjoy the outdoor living room with big comfy chairs, a cozy fireplace in our Bolt Box and eclectic decor. Discover wallabies, koalas and birdlife right outside the door. Take a journey to the inlet, a 5 minute drive down to the Aire River, especially magically if you take the Great Ocean Walk path down the main beach. Once there, enjoy a swim, kayak, or sandboarding, or relax on your own private beach. You'll be amazed how picturesque and secluded it is - a perfectly kept secret.

Additional Information
A solar generator powers Camp CO, so the power supply can be limited based on weather conditions. All guests will receive a generator with full power, but how long that lasts depends on the weather conditions (sun) and how much you use. The off-grid system has a rainwater tank system, solar-powered lights/fairy lights, joolca hot water system using propane, and bolt box using fire. It's important to mention that although the site is powered, it is strongly urged to use the resources respectfully.

Arrived and parked on the grass as per instructions, I got out to find two of the internal buckets from the composting toilet just discarded, one lid had blown off in the windy weather and it was full.... The second thing I encountered was a collapsed tent which combined with the open waste made for a rough first impression. The caravan is really cute and I slept so comfortably. If wet or cold weather, bring cushions to sit on outside, your own pillow and a hot water bottle as the linens can get a little damp to the touch. The top bunk and ladder in the photos doesn't seem to be there. The bolt box is really brilliant and there was enough wood chopped for probably two days. Lots of sticks to gather on the property. If wet weather, bring dry kindling for the first fire while whatever you gather dries out. I read the guidebook thoroughly but couldn't figure out how to get the hot water going so sadly no hot shower and the outdoor bath didn't get used. The power system is easy to use and a brilliant addition. The toilet worked great but the lid kept coming loose and falling off when moved which could do with fixing when so vital for a composting system. The gas stove and kitchen space is great with lots supplied in the caravan cupboards. Beautiful camp in a lovely part of the world, great set-up - and two friendly horses in the nearby paddock! The price point and cleaning fee just doesn't make sense when so many other great Riparide options in the area.

It was exactly the big city log off that we needed! Quiet, beautiful and calm! Needing to be careful not to use all of the electricity in the small battery (especially since it’s winter and not super ...sunny) was the only thing that caused us a little stress but there could have been worse things!
We had lovely fires, small bush walks and there’s plenty of undercover space to relax and rejuvenate. Would absolutely come back again!

A lovely, peaceful place in the heart of the Otways. Only stayed two nights however would recommend 3-4! Went on a big hike to Aire River as well as through the surrounding bush at the accomodation. S...aw so many koalas. The outdoor bath and woodfire oven were lovely highlights to our romantic getaway.

Hi. My name is Jacqueline, the host The Cape Otway Homestead, The Guesthouse at COH, Koala Cottage, Stone Cottage and Camp CO. My husband and I stumbled across the homestead at the beginning of 2020 and decided to purchase it to bring it back to its former glory. We fell in love with the golden hour views, the way the Grampian stonework shines around the entire homestead and how magnificent the wildlife is on the 60 acres of national forest around the cabins. We think it’s a pretty magical spot.
We hope you enjoy it too.

Walk And Explore The Property
There's a garden with home grown produce and herbs just down the track from camp. Make sure you say hello to the goats Billy and Chilli while your there and remember to shut the gate friends. There's also a playground with tree house, slide and trampoline just a hop, skip and jump away from the garden too.
Camp Cooking
All the tools, pizza base ingredients, recipe and pizza oven supplied! Rock up to camp with your pizza toppings and your ready to create in the camp kitchen! I went with a simple potato, rosemary, garlic and cheese pizza as well as a pumpkin, spinach, cheese and goats cheese for a bit of extra! Heaven on a plate! You can source some of the herbs from the property garden.

Explore Aire River
The Aire River winds its way through wetlands and floodplains. It's an awesome little spot to launch a kayak or canoe, then spot endangered hooded plovers and graceful swans as they take flight.
Great Ocean Walk
Hike part of the Great Ocean Walk from the Aire River campsite. Follow the trail markers along the campsite for beautiful picturesque views and stunning ocean panoramas. Hike as little or as long as you want to get dramatic landscapes and great hiking conditions.
Great Ocean Beach Walk
This scenic hike will take you along the cost of the great ocean road path. You will see stunning views of Aire Inlet, cliff faces, gnarled trees and secluded beaches.
Great Ocean Walk
There is nothing like the Great Ocean Walk located on the Great Ocean Road region between Apollo Bay and the iconic Twelve Apostles, the trail follows the coastline for more than 100km. Admire this spectacular coast and the changes in landscape each day.
Aire River Beach Drive
If you've brought your 4x4 you can explore the nearby Aire River tracks, which lead to some beautiful beaches. It gets boggy at the end, so take note: you may need to let the tyre pressure down, and a shovel may come in handy!
Beach Walk
By car turn right out of the gate and take a short drive up the Great Ocean Road. There is a lookout on your left which is positioned perfectly for sunset. If you’re up for an adventure you could also take the kayaks down to where the Aire River flows into the ocean.
