The owners have previously built an A-frame in their bush block called the Rimu Hut, which has proved hugely popular with guests over the past 5 years. The Treehouse is their next project and is an amazing opportunity for guests to enjoy spectacular native bush while staying in beautifully crafted accommodation.
There is no power or wifi and cellphone reception is patchy. So this treehouse really encourages you to switch off, connect with each other and connect with nature.
You drive your car through a farm paddock then walk over stepping stones, along a 20 metre track through the bush and onto a ramp leading to the front door which opens into a timber-lined interior. The Treehouse is hidden away in the bush, surrounded by ferns and looking out on majestic native trees.
There is a Weber barbecue for your cooking needs and a small wood fire for warmth. In the studio unit there is a queen size bed with linen sheets. There is a sofa bed that sleeps 2 and a single window bench seat.
The kitchen has an impressive timber bench with a cupboard to keep food cool. The bathroom has a lovely gas heated high pressure shower and a hand basin set into a quaint wooden vanity. There is a long-drop self-composting toilet set in the bush close by.
A beautiful outdoor bath nestled among ferns and native shrubs is an attractive highlight.
You will find it very easy to unwind in the Treehouse as you step out through the ranch sliders onto the balcony and listen to the birdsong, and will find it very hard to leave.

Tucked away and without any signal, I was forced - in the best of ways - to remove myself from my phone and laptop screen. Instead, I spent a couple of nights being present, listening to the chirps of... birds and murmurs of cattle; the supporting vocalists to the cracking of log-burner which did not stop churning away through out our stay.
The bush-walk, too, was a lovely outdoor adventure and despite not really being too far from civilisation, it felt as though we were a hundred miles from it.
The treehouse was beautiful, rustic and cosy. Quiet. Just what we needed.
Would highly recommend.

I am a builder. I have really enjoyed creating a cabin in the bush and are happy to make it available for others to enjoy. Also I like to help others experience our beautiful farm. My wife and I enjoy the outdoors, new experiences and meeting people.

Moon
If it wasn't cloudy, I would have enjoyed the view of the stars from the hot bath outside but instead I got to witness the moon popping through the clouds.
Bush Walk In The Backyard
We were so lucky to have our own forest/bush walk at our door step, you could get lost in their for hours and hours. With all the gorgeous and friendly birds following along you along the path, we had so much fun exploring the property. There had been a bit of damage after the storms so make sure to pack some appropriate footwear!
Glow Worms On The Farm
Glow worms are a unique experience and its not often you get a tour by the hosts in your backyard. We got picked up on the four wheeler as soon as it turned dark enough, it was my first time trying to capture glow worms, I definitely didn't have much patience for the long exposures but seeing all the glow worms in real life is like being in a fairy tale and an experience I will always remember.
