A beautiful little escape tucked amongst the Otway National Park. Cosy, peaceful and surrounded by nature, with a gorgeous wood fire that made it hard to leave. Slow mornings, campfire dinners and lots of bird watching. The ultimate place to switch off and reconnect.

What an amazing base to explore aire river and the coast. Winter swims at the beach, a woodstove, trail runs.

We had a beautiful and peaceful family stay at Koala Cottage. It was exactly the kind of break we were hoping for - calm, cosy, and surrounded by nature.
The cottage had a lovely charm and gave us th...e chance to properly slow down as a family. We spent our time playing board games, watching birds, spotting koalas, and enjoying quiet moments together without screens. It felt like a genuine reset from everyday life.
The location was wonderful, and the whole experience made for some very special family memories. A perfect stay for anyone looking for a relaxing nature escape and quality time with loved ones.

Hi. My name is Jacqueline, the host The Cape Otway Homestead, The Guesthouse at COH, Koala Cottage, Stone Cottage and Camp CO. My husband and I stumbled across the homestead at the beginning of 2020 and decided to purchase it to bring it back to its former glory. We fell in love with the golden hour views, the way the Grampian stonework shines around the entire homestead and how magnificent the wildlife is on the 60 acres of national forest around the cabins. We think it’s a pretty magical spot.

Home Cooked Meal In Candle Light
My dear friend was arriving quite late to our abode, so I decided to have a curry dinner at candle light ready for when she arrived. I cooked up the curry on the top of the wood fire cook top and made naan bread too!
Yoga Meditation In The Forest
We set up a yoga space among the forest as it was literally out our front door finishing with 20 minutes of meditation as we listened to the trees sway in the breeze.
Koala Spotting
As we were nestled right in the Otway National Park, we set off in search to spot some koalas that live among the gum trees!
Homemade Crumble
The property had a woodfire oven which we made from scratch a rhubarb and apple crumble. It was so much fun and the house smelt incredible!

Explore Aire River
The Aire River winds its way through wetlands and floodplains. It's an awesome little spot to launch a kayak or canoe, then spot endangered hooded plovers and graceful swans as they take flight.
Great Ocean Beach Walk
This scenic hike will take you along the cost of the great ocean road path. You will see stunning views of Aire Inlet, cliff faces, gnarled trees and secluded beaches.
Aire River Beach Drive
If you've brought your 4x4 you can explore the nearby Aire River tracks, which lead to some beautiful beaches. It gets boggy at the end, so take note: you may need to let the tyre pressure down, and a shovel may come in handy!
Beach Walk
By car turn right out of the gate and take a short drive up the Great Ocean Road. There is a lookout on your left which is positioned perfectly for sunset. If you’re up for an adventure you could also take the kayaks down to where the Aire River flows into the ocean.
Manna Gum Woodland
We stopped near the Cape Otway Lighthouse to check out the weird contrasting landscape around us. Unfortunately these dead trees are due to rising Koala populations.
Go Chasing Waterfalls
This is a beautiful place to come and fill your energy cup up as you walk through a forest rich in life and colour, while also seeing a spectacular waterfall at the end.
