Koala Cottage is home among the Otway National Park treetops and nestled into the Otways and the Aire River valley. Discover wallabies, koalas and birdlife right outside the door or relax on the hammock to breathe in all the seclusion of nature. Take a journey to the inlet, a 2-minute drive down to the Aire River Campsite, especially magically if you take the Great Ocean Walk path down the main beach. Once there enjoy a swim, kayak, sandboarding, or relax on your own private beach. You'll be amazed how picturesque and secluded it is - a perfectly kept secret.

The one bedroom cabin sleeps 2 in the master king room with private ensuite and 2 in the living area on a queen pull out. With a group of 6 we can open ‘la petite cabane’ a standalone cabin featuring two single beds a step away from the main house making this a 2 bedroom cabin. Enjoy a glass of wine around the fire pit while cooking over the flames or bbq under the stars. Whatever the occasion, Koala Cottage is a magical spot.

What an amazing base to explore aire river and the coast. Winter swims at the beach, a woodstove, trail runs. We'll be back

Koala Cottage is great! A bit rustic and very peaceful. Cottage is as described, clean, kitchen well stocked and comfy bed. Location in the forest was amazing, we saw lots of parrots and a koala hangi...ng out in one of the trees nearby. It was a short drive to the camp site and river for a swim. The beach is a bit of a walk from the campsite since the road turns into a sandy 4wd only track. But it was a nice walk so no complaints. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.

The location of this cottage is incredible- set in amongst bush land and trees full of the most amazing birdlife and koalas! The cottage is super cute- a bit of a rustic cabin but very cosy and lots of tea and coffee supplies!

Hi. My name is Jacqueline, the host The Cape Otway Homestead, The Guesthouse at COH, Koala Cottage, Stone Cottage and Camp CO. My husband and I stumbled across the homestead at the beginning of 2020 and decided to purchase it to bring it back to its former glory. We fell in love with the golden hour views, the way the Grampian stonework shines around the entire homestead and how magnificent the wildlife is on the 60 acres of national forest around the cabins. We think it’s a pretty magical spot. We hope you enjoy it too. Follow along on insta @capeotwayhomestead

Explore Aire River

The Aire River winds its way through wetlands and floodplains. It's an awesome little spot to launch a kayak or canoe, then spot endangered hooded plovers and graceful swans as they take flight.

Great Ocean Beach Walk

This scenic hike will take you along the cost of the great ocean road path. You will see stunning views of Aire Inlet, cliff faces, gnarled trees and secluded beaches.

Aire River Beach Drive

If you've brought your 4x4 you can explore the nearby Aire River tracks, which lead to some beautiful beaches. It gets boggy at the end, so take note: you may need to let the tyre pressure down, and a shovel may come in handy!

Beach Walk

By car turn right out of the gate and take a short drive up the Great Ocean Road. There is a lookout on your left which is positioned perfectly for sunset. If you’re up for an adventure you could also take the kayaks down to where the Aire River flows into the ocean.

We stopped near the Cape Otway Lighthouse to check out the weird contrasting landscape around us. Unfortunately these dead trees are due to rising Koala populations.

Go Chasing Waterfalls

This is a beautiful place to come and fill your energy cup up as you walk through a forest rich in life and colour, while also seeing a spectacular waterfall at the end.
