Mister Rice was a perfect spot for our long weekend. Right in the heart of town, it’s a short walk to lots of local spots like Mostyn Street Cellars, Love Shack Brewery, Voor Ouker and Tortoise Espres...so. The apartment is really spacious and well equipped, with comfy beds and a great balcony over Mostyn St. Highlights of our trip were a visit to the Frida exhibition in Bendigo, watching footy at the Bridge hotel, a bushwalk near Chewton and exploring the Mill. We’ll be back!

Theatre Royal Castlemaine

Established in 1854, Theatre Royal is proud to be one of the oldest continuously operating theatres in the Southern Hemisphere. Originally built to provide gold miners with live entertainment, today the establishment holds a cinema, live music, a bar and a pizza restaurant. Theatre Royal is a must-see if visiting Castlemaine.

Bike Riding

This trail begins in Castlemaine and runs beside the Victorian Goldfields Tourist Train line to Maldon via Muckleford and is 18km long. The trail is mostly surrounded by open dry forest, with some views of rolling hills and farms.
