Experience the simplicity of tiny house living in our thoughtfully converted shipping container, tucked away on the edge of Wombat Forest just 10 minutes from Daylesford. Nestled amidst lush eucalyptus forest, Wallaby Retreat is perfect for romantic getaways and nature enthusiasts who love a rustic, down to earth experience.
The container conversion has been designed to create a spacious feel in a small space. Local artisans have lovingly repurposed reclaimed materials to create a warm and inviting interior. Relax and unwind on your private deck, where you can soak in the sights and sounds of the surrounding forest.
A brand new bathroom boasts a sustainable composting toilet that's odourless and eco-conscious. The full kitchen is equipped with a medium-sized fridge, induction cooktop, and combination convection oven/microwave, ensuring you have everything you need to prepare meals. Coffee, sugar, teas (black, green & herbal) and a French press are provided. A split system ensures your ideal temperature no matter the weather.
We also provide a picnic basket and cosy blanket, for you to fill with incredible regional produce and savour amidst the stunning natural surroundings.
Wombat Forest state park is only a 3 minute drive away from the tiny house, and it has endless trails to explore. Please message us if you need a digital file of the bushwalking map of the area for your stay.
The tiny house has a shared driveway and the hosts live in the main house 200m away, but the hosts will leave you to enjoy your space unless you need anything at all. We are always happy to chat if you want recommendations.
Please note that while there is no wifi and mobile reception is patchy at best, it's an opportunity to fully disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. We have a selection of books and games available to keep you entertained. Additionally, the tiny house is not wheelchair accessible, and we regret that we cannot accommodate infants, children, or pets.

My partner and I stayed at the Wallaby retreat Tiny house afew weeks ago, our last getaway together before having our baby and it was perfect. This tiny home is pretty spacious for what it is, the env...ironment is peaceful, plenty of walking tracks around, youl see groups of kangaroos if your lucky and its an easy drive into town. There's no wifi which was also a nice being able to disconnect for abit, we just downloaded some movies before we left.

Glenlyon General Store
Great pitstop for coffee and a chance to create your own picnic hamper! This store is loaded with ALL the local produce and snack goodness!
Daylesford Sunday Market
The weekly Sunday markets offer everything from old coins and handmade soaps to fresh local produce. We found some keepsakes to take home, inspired by our stay at the barn.
Picnic At Loddon Falls
A short walk to view the falls from the top, although if you want more like me to get up nice and personal, you'll need to climb down the natural stone steps and follow the tracks. Great spot for a picnic too on the giant rocks. I spent all afternoon watching the day go by..
Garden Cafe Delights
Submerged in the gardens is this delightFULL cafe. I met my friend Robbie who was visiting the area for an afternoon share sesh full of everything we wanted off the menu! Afterall it all looked incredible, especially the baked goods! Walked away with a loaf each of sourdough as we walked though the gardens chatting our faces off and sniffing flowers.
Visiting The Convent Gallery In Daylesford
We visited the gallery which is in a converted convent and has many levels of stunning art, as well as a bar and cafe. There's so much amazing Australian art to see too!
