Heart Filling Stay Away

I took a left at the top of the hill in Daylesford, Victoria, and arrived at ‘Libelle’ - a tiny home created with heart. I could feel the love put into this abode as soon as I walked in. The custom-made tiny was beaming with light as the sunshine danced through the windows. It was warm, cozy, and private. Just what I needed for this solo time.

I slept long and deep that night waking up to rain on my large bedroom windows which looked out to the pond. I sipped cuppas all morning watching the black ducks and other bird life enjoying the misty rain. The kookaburra laughed and the blue wrens skipped to the beat of their drum. There was surely a message for me there - to skip to the beat of my own drum, my heart.

I cozied up in bed with a pot of tea, coloring and reading books for most of the day. I didn’t feel like facing the world. I felt right at home, sitting still in my home built with love. I gathered some firewood and lit the outdoor fire. I watched it struggle and fight to light. It reminded me of one's self during some recent challenging times. But... she’s determined, she’s fierce, she’s me - and there she goes roaring flames and all!

I took a long hot bath and left myself sit there, to set like the sunset. The steam from the bath was rising but I chose to stay, sinking deeper into the bath. There’s just something about baths in the outdoors. I ponded this as I topped the bath with more hot water. I snuggled up in bed watching a light-hearted movie and drifted into dreamland peacefully that night. The rain began once again, landing on the roof of Libelle.

Woke as fresh as the native wattle that morning, I woke to feed the two pet sheep their ‘sheep lollies’ and gave them some love back that the hosts had given to me. I left Libelle feeling wholesome and rejuvenated. It really was a self-healing, resting place to be. For me. Just me.

Before leaving Daylesford, I wanted to take myself out for a chilli hot chocolate at the Chocolate Mill and by heck it didn’t disappoint! Delicious. I didn’t leave without some takeaway choc treats becuase of course car snacks are a priority in my life. The caramel salted, dark chocolate was out of this world!

As I started the journey home I remembered a little birdy once told me about this ‘blue lake’ just outside of Daylesford. So naturally I followed my curious heart to discover this ever so blue water land. It was too wet to drive in, so I parked just off the main road where Google maps advised me where the lake was and I skipped on in like the blue wrens skipped about the pond of the tiny home. And by gosh it was blue alright friends!! Like turquoise blue! I spent a good hour exploring this magical spot and I’ll certainly be making more time to come back here!

I wonder if it’s swimmable and if the ducks at the tiny home pond know about this delightful water hole? And I’ll keep that curious heart open until I arrive back next time to spread the good word.

Literally with a cuppa tea in hand, I was snuggled up in bed of the tiny home with the heater cranking watching all the birds come in and around the land. Black ducks on the pond. Kookaburras singing their tune and loads on wrens dancing about. There's a bird book in the tiny home too which I enjoyed looking up any birds I didn't know. So peaceful. So lovely. Spent hours here lost in my bird land.

Inside the tiny home was a container labelled "sheep lollies" which was the sheeps favourite sheep treat! So I took handfuls to them and made friends.

The Chocolate Mill was calling my name, so I drove 5 minutes outside of Daylesford to the chocoholics livin' day dream for some sweet treats! I got a take away travel pack of chocolates plus sat in for a chilli hot chocolate which I highly recommend!

I heard from a little birdy about this turquoise blue water lake off the Melbourne Road just outside of Creswick. It was a 20 minute drive from Daylesford although it was certainly worth it! I couldn't drive into the Wallaby Track given how wet it was, although I parked my car just off the Melbourne Road and it was a short 100m walk into the bush to the lake of waters! There's a lookout, although I did adventure my way down to the actual waters. I spent a good hour here although I will certainly be back again when I create more time to explore!
