As you open the front door of Highgate, you are greeted by stunning grand ceilings, a beautiful period fireplace and an extensively renovated living, dining and fully equipped chef’s kitchen.

There are two separate office spaces and great Wi-Fi, so why not come for a few extra days and work in a relaxed environment, skipping the weekend traffic?

There’s also a Media room, kids play area and tree top mezzanine to keep the kids (little and big!) fully entertained during your stay.

Bowral Lookout

Bowral look out is just a few minutes from Highgate. We drove up to the top of the hill and walk around this beautiful look out - the panoramic views were beautiful.

Retford Estate

For history buffs and naturalists, Retford Estate Gardens showcases an amazing collection of sculptures and flora across the property. The National Trust of Australia runs regular tours through the building if you’re interested or you can simply get lost among the art and trees on the property at your own leisure.

Small Town Coffee Run

We drove out to a small town called Bowral, walked down the main strip to look for a coffee shop to sit in, and slowly sipped our coffee as we remembered our time away. It was the best way to end our stay, and Bowral has lots of shops you can visit to buy antiques and local artisanal goods.

We walked through town on a rainy day. There were plenty of unique boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes to choose from!

Lunch At The Press Shop

A chic cafe with a great menu, great coffee and light-filled interiors. I came here a couple of times for lunch and sat in the window with a journal.

A picturesquely curious corner of Bowral with one of the biggest antique stores I've ever been into. Dirty Jane's is a sweet plant nursery and homewares store with a stunning cafe/restaurant with the coolest interiors around. I highly recommend perusing the antique stalls before settling yourself down at a garden table at Harry's with a glass of vino.
