Disconnect to Reconnect

Spring has Sprung. Kind of......

But that's the only excuse we needed to sneak away from the city and head for the hills to recharge the batteries. The drive flew by, and soon we were bumping down off the gravel road (that's how you know its private) and winding our way up to the 1967 Franklin Caravelle nestled in the hillside.

It couldn't be more perfect!

There is absolute privacy with nothing to see but a long picturesque valley that disappears into the mist. Evenings are best spent in the gorgeous bathtub on the deck overlooking it all - it was definitely my highlight.

They have thought of everything, and with all the creature comforts you could think of we yarned away the evening pretending to know the rules to UNO. (Yes, you can pick up, put down!)

The key to our trip was to unwind, disconnect from the rat race and reconnect with each other. And with gorgeous little spaces like the hammock, the fire pit (although the state region was in a complete fire ban and we had brought our marshmallows for s'mores just in case), And my last but not least, the love seat, we were able to do just that. These are only a few favourite gems scattered throughout the property - and I don't think I have even mentioned the alpacas.

If you are looking to venture out, there is an abundance of cellar doors and wineries, quaint Country towns, Hiking trails & historical landmarks all within an easy drive. The highlight for us was the museum in Gulgong. It's a historical treasure trove.

The truth is, you won't want to be away for long. Once you have soaked all your troubles away with a soothing pink bath bomb and a touch of magnesium with the sun melting slowly behind the hills, you will understand why.

If you love Art Deco or Wes Anderson and colourful old buildings you will regret not driving by or snapping a pic with these historic gems such as the Pink Post Office built in 1862, Regent theatre built in 1937 (which will soon be turned into apartments). Defiantly an experience we will treasure for ever. The amazing old characters around are never short of a good yarn too....
