A Cosy Cottage in Kangaroo Valley
Adventure in Kangaroo Valley, South Coast, NSW, AU
Down the winding roads of Kangaroo Valley, through the main street lined with vintage shops, over a historic 19th-century bridge and tucked away at the back of a little farm - this is where you'll find Scribbly Gum Cottage.
From the moment our car pulled up, the slow and serene nature of the Valley could be felt. All I could hear was the wind, the trees and the creak of the old front door as it opened. Like a warm hug, we were immediately greeted with a bottle of wine, marshmallows, chocolate and farm fresh eggs sitting on the table.
As soon as we dropped our bags, we spent a few hours on the front porch (with our welcome snacks of course) throwing the ball to our 3yr old Border-collie, Lucy, enjoying the calm and still nature of our surroundings. We were absolutely spoilt for choice with all the little places to sit and read a book, so we spent all afternoon doing exactly that. As the sun began to set, we set up a fire and sat around, watching the stars as they began to light up the sky above.
The next morning, we took a short drive to Cambewarra Lookout, where we found an incredibly scenic spot for a picnic and a coffee. Feeling thirsty, we drove to Yarrawa Estate in Upper Kangaroo Valley (20 mins from the cottage) and had a wonderful wine tasting + cheese board to round out the afternoon.
After a day of adventure, we popped into The Friendly Inn pub for dinner, before returning back to the cottage to watch the the sun go down from the porch. Together, we sat and watched the clouds shift, reminiscing on what a wholesome and rejuvenating experience it was staying at Scribbly Gum....
