Window On The Otways offers 2 bespoke luxury cabins nestled within a 26 acre ecological sanctuary in the stunning Lorne Hinterland, featuring sensational views over the Great Otway National Park.
Our second little cabin... The Lookout sits atop the ridgeline above a steep open meadow where kangaroos graze and eagles soar. Each window and balcony offers vast and uninterrupted views of the beautiful Pennyroyal Valley and ranges beyond. The Lookout is built on a tall cantilever making the cabin feel like it is safely suspended out into the stunning landscape. A level pad at the entrance means you can enjoy all the fun of your own private forest lookout without the stairs.
This gorgeous little cabin is superbly appointed, with careful attention to all the luxurious details that make for a truly relaxing escape. With magnificent Otways bushland as far as your eyes can see, the Lookout is a wonderful bespoke forest retreat.
Sit on the balcony of your cabin at night and gaze at millions of stars while frog song fills the air. Snuggle by the woodfire or in the deep double spa with candles and huge windows looking across the valley. Wake in a cosy bed to the beautiful chorus of forest birds and gentle morning light filling the sensational views. Stay in bed with a cuppa and watch as the forest dances, and clouds move across the horizon. Nourish yourself in The Nook - full spectrum sauna and chromotherapy meditation space looking out across the beautiful Pennyroyal Valley (a space dedicated for guests staying in our two cabins - the Nook is tucked in to the trees between the Lookout and Treehouse). Or head out to explore the many extraordinary offerings of the Otways region, returning to your own private sanctuary.
Soak up the tranquility, unwind and recharge away from the hustle and bustle. Less than 2 hours from Melbourne and only 15 minutes leisurely drive through forest to the stunning coast and thriving township of Lorne. Enjoy nature at its finest.
Window On The Otways has offered much loved forest accommodation for 20 years, and has been with the current owners for the last 8 years. Our cabins receive consistently outstanding reviews and have a 5 star rating on multiple platforms. As a small family bush business we love offering this wonderful place for people to escape, relax and enjoy.
The Treehouse... If the Lookout is booked for the dates you are looking for, hop across to the listing for our other cabin - the Treehouse - which is identical apart from a slightly different aspect. The cabins are approximately 150m apart for privacy and are not in sight of each other. They both enjoy expansive private views of the forest and Great Otway National Park beyond. Each cabin has its own driveway and parking.
BUSHFIRE SEASON
Please be aware that during the fire danger period, accomodations in bushfire risk areas are required to close under catastrophic conditions (or in the event of significant active local fire fronts). If catastrophic conditions occur at the time of your booking, we will alert you ASAP and will either rebook or refund any nights impacted (or portion of stay). All travellers to bushfire risk areas (which includes the entire Great Ocean Road, all coastal towns and the hinterland) should download the VicEmergency App to remain up to date with fire danger ratings and incidents in areas you are travelling.
PLANNED BURN SEASON
Please be aware that planned burns - for community safety and government asset protection - are conducted intermittently in most coastal and forest areas in Victoria during the cooler/wetter autumn period. These burns are undertaken by FFM and DEECA and are completely outside of our control. Local businesses and residents are typically given less than 24 hours notice of ignition. Planned burns present no safety risk to private properties, residents, businesses or visitors. If planned burns are undertaken in the area smoke may be present, and in some circumstances low level flame and aircraft may also be seen. If this is a concern for you then booking outside of the autumn season is recommended.
Window On The Otways is on Gadubanud Country, traditional Land of the People of the Eastern Maar. We thank and acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this Land, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
