The Hideaway is perched on the headland of Great Mackerel Beach. Facing north east every room features windows and or glass sliding doors opening out to uninterrupted views of Great Mackerel Beach, Pittwater, Barrenjoey Headland, Palm Beach and beyond.
The Hideaway offers privacy and seclusion, being surrounded by Ku-ring Gai National Park and only accessible by water. There is a ferry service available from Palm Beach or the water taxi service. Please note if taking the water taxi you need to book in advance.

Great Mackerel offers a gorgeous beach that is suitable for a number of water sports including stand up paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing (licence required for fishing). We are also surrounded by Ku-Ring-Gai National Park that offers numerous bush walks and an abundance of wild life (hiking trail book in the lounge room library for your convenience).
Please note that whilst the property is on the water front, there are about 40 stairs leading from the beach to the house.

Very lovely get away from Sydney (but not too far). Paddle boarding, kayaking, yoga on the balcony was all fantastic. Very relaxing calming place to go for the weekend.

We had the most wonderful weekend at The Hideaway on Great Mackerel Beach. The home is absolutely beautiful — spacious, stylish, and incredibly well-equipped with everything you could possibly need. T...he views are stunning and make for the perfect peaceful escape. A lovely bonus was the complimentary bottle of bubbles waiting for us on arrival — such a thoughtful touch. It was the perfect spot for our family to relax and reconnect. Highly recommend!

Amazing views and well appointed holiday home at a gorgeous beach. Felt like a home away from home. Definitely use a backpack! Access is a little tricky and you wouldn’t want to be dragging a bag. All the basics are provided (oil, spices etc.).

Mackerel Beach Lookout

Only a stone throw from the property and visible from the balcony is one of the most impressive looks outs on the Mackerel trail walking track. We climbed the short incline and enjoyed the view across the bay without having to complete the Basin track.

Warm Evening Swim

After dinner, we enjoyed the warm evening by heading down to the beach and swimming in the ocean. An intimate beach, we were the only ones there and had the whole beach to ourselves.

Fishing At Cape Mackerel Wharf

Just a short stroll across the beach from the cabin, we ventured to the Cape Mackerel wharf to go fishing. Catching leather jacket, brim and flat head every 10 minutes. It was an eventful morning spent fishing. We later enjoyed two of the fish freshly grilled with a glass of wine.
