Welcome to The Art Studio, Barwon Heads, coastal retreat. Relax and enjoy the beautiful village of Barwon Heads in our art studio conversion. If you love peace, art & nature, this is the place to stay.

A creative, light filled retreat for two amongst the moonah trees in a quiet neighborhood. The studio is decorated with beautiful handmade tiles & furniture in ensuite and kitchenette, local art, & has a comfy queen bed & sofa. Totally private entrance from main house with keypad entry. Studio is a 2min drive or 20 min walk to shops, cafes & river beach.

Please Note: Although our studio is separate, it is at the front of our home but blocked off by an internal wall, with totally private access from the street. The studio is also fenced off from our home and driveway. We make every attempt to minimise noise, but you may hear occasional daily living and neighborhood sounds. Having stayed in many bnbs ourselves, we value the importance of privacy and seclusion for our guests.

Originally an art studio at the front of our home for your host Mark @markcairnsartist , in 2024 we slowly converted it into a beautiful studio apartment for two. We found that after our son left home, we had lots of unused space and decided to convert the art studio so others could stay and enjoy our beautiful village of Barwon Heads too.

Some of Mark's art and other local artist friends' work are hanging in the studio.

We loved our Costal retreat stay! Such a beautiful studio in the most relaxing spot! We instantly felt at home and super relaxed! The hosts were amazing, going above and beyond to help make our stay e...ven better! We loved exploring around town, everyone was so sweet, amazing food, beautiful scenery! Enjoyed a solo winter stay away here at the deluxe art studio. Beautifully styled, peaceful and surrounded by a native garden. Loved watching the wattle birds come in and enjoy the native flowers whil...e I was toasty warm inside! This abode instantly made me slow down, recharge and reconnect. After some exploring around Barwon Heads, it was so lovely returning to such a welcoming space. I left feeling refreshed, inspired and already planning my next visit.

Barwon Heads Bluff

There is an incredible beauty and eeriness as you watch the waves crash against the rich coloured limestone at ‘The Bluff’, also known as Barwon Head. For the easiest access head down Bluff Rd, which leads to a car park, ocean lookout and walking tracks.

River

The sparkling blue waters of the Barwon River, where the river meets the sea in Barwon Heads, really is natures playground. If water sports is your thing, this still water way is popular among Stand Up Paddle Boarders and Kayakers. A fisherman’s favourite and the perfect swimming spot for the kids.

Community Market

If you feel the need to do some shopping or even just get to know the locals the stalls at the Barwon Heads Community Market (held every third Saturday of the month) sell a range of produce and goods, including vintage clothes, homemade cakes, candles and the best Kasundi I have ever tasted (Red Home Pantry I’m shouting out to you).
