Additional Information
Set on a 2.6 hectare block bordering the Wainui River. The glampsite overlooks the Wainui River, saltwater marsh reserves, and neighbouring farmlands. You'll drive along a farm track to find a gorgeous outdoor kitchen, bathroom, and cosy cabin nestled into the hill.
The outdoor kitchen is fully covered and has power. It's equipped with everything you need to whip up a beautiful meal, a full fridge/freezer, camp oven and two-element stovetop, jug, lighting, cookware, serveware, as well as all the utensils you'll need. This is camping at its finest! There's just something so cool about preparing and eating your meals outdoors - I swear, for some reason, it just tastes better!
Festoon and solar lights will light your path to the bedroom cabin. In the cabin, you'll find a comfy queen bed, an armchair, a bedside lamp, and a heater and electric blanket during the colder months.
Heating outside is by open fire. Drag the bean bags over to the fire, roast marshmellows, gaze at the stars, and enjoy being back in nature.
The bathroom consists of a hot outdoor shower and bath located near the kitchen. The perfect place to wash off after exploring the river or one of the many walks in the area. The toilet is an eco-friendly composting toilet.
You'll have access to the river via a short stroll down a tree-covered track. Picnic here or utilise the double kayak or two paddle boards to explore the river. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that a short paddle down river, and you’ll be in Tauranga Harbour with a number of islands to explore. Here you’ll also have views of Matakana Island and Mount Maunganui (Mauao). At certain times of the year, you might even find a huge black swan colony out in the harbour. Very Notebook(ish)! Paddle upstream from the glampsite, and you’ll pass under bridges and pass wetlands and farmlands. There is lots to explore!
Being outdoors, there are mosquitos. Citronella candles and bug spray are provided for your convenience.
Being downstream from the highway, there is some road noise. But get the fire going, get some tunes going on the provided wonderboom, and you won't notice it at all.

Wainui river was the perfect little get away for us and our dog! We hardly left the property as it was such a good spot to relax with a book, play games, and enjoy a wine while cooking outdoors. What more do you need!

Kia ora! We're Katie and Fraser. We live at the Mount and run Wainui River Glamping in Aongatete.
We moved to the Bay from Auckland a few years ago and reckon this is one of the best spots in New Zealand. Between life at the Mount and the lifestyle block on the Wainui river we love to share what we have. We think both spots are pretty special.
If you enjoy being out in nature, then the Bay of Plenty offers a plethora of opportunities. Go waterfall hunting in the Kaimais, climb scenic vistas with unreal sunrises with both Mount Maunganui and the Papamoa Hills nearby. Hit the nearby beaches of Waihi and the Mount, or settle into the campsite and explore the Wainui river by paddle board. There is no shortage of outdoor activities to get involved in.
Then by night we recommend, putting some tunes on, cooking up a storm in our well-equipped kitchen, and roasting marshmallows over the fire while you sit back on the bean bags, drink in hand, soaking in the abundance of stars.
On-site you'll be looked after by our wonderful tenant and property manager, Shanelle. She's awesome.
We look forward to hosting you :)

Swim At The Aongatete Water Holes
The Aongagtete Swimming Holes are a gorgeous local spot to explore. From the car park, it’s an easy 30 minutes walk to the pools through Pūriri and Kohekohe forest. We went for a quick swim and then relaxed in the sun near the pools.
Sentinel Rock Lookout
With views across the Kaimais and over the Hhrbour, this hike is not one to miss. A great spot to have some snacks and soak in 360-degree views.
Explore Te Puna Quarry Park

Bush Walk At Puketoki Reserve
A perfect trail to take your doggo for a walk, surrounded by large native species trees. There is a perfect picnic spot by a waterfall to enjoy near the entrance.
Lunch At The Cider Factory
We enjoyed delicious burgers and tasting paddles at this charming spot, just a short drive away. The warm, inviting space offered a beautiful view of the ocean.
