The best place to stay in Victoria! We had the most special and memorable time at Genevieve’s house in the Macedon Ranges. The property felt incredibly luxurious for the price, beautiful interiors, sp...otless and so comfortable. We switched off and relaxed the moment we stepped through the doors

We had the most amazing time at Hillplains. That dreamy country lifestyle we love? It was the highlight of the escape. From the stunning design to the thoughtful local touches, we felt absolutely spoi...led here. The outdoor setup was next level – a unique fireplace, a giant tree swing, and that 28-degree heated pool? Pure magic. A huge thanks to the team for hosting us – this was an epic family getaway, packed with memories we’ll treasure forever.

Natural Pool Experience
The property has a natural pool, solar-heated at a maximum of 28 degrees, providing a pleasant swimming experience. There is a lily pad and a reed garden on one side, creating a relaxing natural environment. The water is clean, and amazingly great and occasionally we found little snails around the edges, no frogs but you might find them. The host says these visitors are welcomed as it's a good testament to the water quality. The water is great for your skin and offers a refreshing way to start or end your day.
Swing By At A Giant Gumtree
The hosts gently added a giant swing in the biggest Gumtree in the property, a fun do with your kids while overlooking the beautiful house, cabin and pool.

Swimming In The Cascades
We set up picnic camp here and spent the day. One of the best swimming spots I have ever come across! Beautiful weather too. The rocks in the water are slippery as but the water is clear enough for you to find an easy access to get in and out of. Loved the cascades running down my back! We explored the area, swam, ate and laid on the giant boulders. Easy road for any car to access and the walk down to the water is super close.
The Cascades
At The Cascades, just to the west of the village of Metcalfe, the Coliban River flows over and among huge granite boulders and outcrops, creating many rock pools, small and large. The place is popular all year round for walks, picnics and swimming.
Small Holdings Restaurant
We had heard great things about Small Holdings. Once a Presbyterian Church but now a quaint restaurant with an open kitchen, warm service, country homestead decor, and a cozy 'you're now part of the family' vibe. It was only a 10-minute stroll into the center of Malmsbury and we spent our evening enjoying the beautiful food and company by the fire of this great local and unique spot.
Country Bike Ride
We had planned to go on a big ride but when we set off in the morning towards the path, we found ourselves enjoying our slow bike ride through the local streets, past the bluestone houses and country surroundings.
Moto Bean Coffee Roasters
Best coffee in town was definitely Moto Bean Coffee Roasters. Uniquely decorated with motorbikes and filled with locals catching up and talking about footy, it was a great place to start the day.
Botanical Gardens Viaduct Walk
Great local spot to wander around the duck-filled pond and river. The Viaduct is an impressive structure and if you time it right, you might catch a train or two passing through town.
