We recently stayed at Bluestone Ridge in The Goat cottage, and it was nothing short of magnificent.
Coming from Melbourne, we were looking to truly switch off, reconnect with nature, and enjoy some p...eace and quiet—and this place delivered exactly that. The cottage was immaculately clean, and the attention to detail throughout is genuinely next level. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the design, making it both functional and beautifully relaxing.
One of the standout features for us was the skylight above the bed. Being able to lie back and look up at the stars at night was a unique and memorable experience, made even better by the stunning views across King Valley right from the cottage.
The communal hut between The Goat and The Cow cottages is another fantastic addition. It gave us the flexibility to enjoy a fire outside under the open sky or retreat indoors depending on the weather—perfect for unwinding in any conditions.
Marty, the host, struck the perfect balance—attentive and helpful without ever intruding on our privacy. On arrival, he provided great recommendations for local wineries and places to visit, which really enhanced our stay given we were there to explore the region.
A particularly thoughtful touch was on our departure morning (Good Friday), when we found a chocolate Easter bunny left on the deck—such a simple but genuinely appreciated surprise.
Overall, this was an exceptional stay. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with incredible views, thoughtful design, and easy access to wineries, Bluestone Ridge is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back.

Such an amazing stay!
Marty was so helpful from before we even left for our getaway at Bluestone ridge.
The house was amazing will all amenities provided for.
The animals were great to see and Mart...y even took us out on the quad bike up on the hill to see the cattle and get a picturesque view of the whole valley.
Very easy to access and all the locals were so beautiful.
We will definitely be coming again!

We had such a great stay. The place has so much character and was really well thought out. The goats were friendly, the bread was fresh, and the views were beautiful. The outdoor fire, bath, and nearb...y waterfall walks were a real highlight, and the wineries close by were fantastic. The donkey who loved hugs had us laughing harder than we have in years and made it even more special. Marty was kind and welcoming, and we’d happily come back.

Love being out in nature, exploring new parts of the property and surrounding areas, enjoying a fire in the colder months and visiting all our animal friends on the farm. A gorgeous shop with condiments for any occasion. We grabbed the mushroom pate - highly recommend you try with butter on toast!

Right in the heart of Whitfield and the King Valley, the Mountain View Hotel is one of northeast Victoria’s best-kept gourmet secrets. Modern Italian at heart (but with all the pub classics too!), this friendly and welcoming gastro pub serves the best of the region’s produce transformed into high-quality, moreish fare.
Hobbledehoy Cafe
All good adventures start with good coffee and grub, which makes Hobbledehoy the best starting point for your King Valley explorations! This Whitfield cafe serves up an array of culinary delights, from beautiful brunches and fresh-made pastries to central European classics like homemade Goulash. They have a distillery coming soon, and their cocktail nights are the place to be on a Saturday evening!
