The Clarence: Luxury Off Grid Eco-Friendly Riverside Retreat

The Space -

Main house - 1 Bedroom, King Bed, TV and ceiling fan (sleeps 2)

Studio - 1 Queen Bed and 1 King single bed with pull out trundle bed and ceiling fan (sleeps 4)

Bell Tent - 2 Queen mattresses (sleeps 4)

There are an additional 4 Bell Tents also set up on the property - two with 1 Queen mattress in each and two with 2 Single mattresses in each (sleep total of 8)

We have styled our beds with our favourite linen brands, you will feel like you're staying in a 5-star hotel.

The kitchen is located in the main house and includes all basic amenities including Nespresso coffee machine. As The Clarence is run on solar power there is no oven or stove top, however we do provide portable gas cook tops. The outdoor dining table seats up to 12 guests with an additional 6 guests at the inside dining table.

The large deck has a comfortable outdoor seating area, allowing you to relax and enjoy the view. With the large solid European oak dining table and a premium barbeque that can also be used as an oven and cooktop, meals are easily prepared and enjoyed in comfort.

The modern bathroom, located next to the main house has a rainwater shower with both hot and cold water. Please only use the toilet paper supplied and do not dispose of sanitary products down the toilet.

Pet Policy-
We are happy to welcome up to 2 of your furry family members! 🐾 A pet fee of $50 per pet for up to 2 pets applies to cover additional cleaning and wear. This fee will be requested separately after booking. Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing a pet/s.

Activities -
With the mighty Clarence River literally at your doorstep, our guests can enjoy a spot of fishing, kayaking, and swimming. In addition, we also have a Golf deck with a small basket of golf balls supplied. If you fancy hitting a few however, it may be an idea to bring extras along with you.

Alternatively, you may simply choose to lose yourself in the quietness of your surroundings, listen to the birds, be in awe of the 35m Tall Flooded Gums, the Ironbarks and Tallowoods that adorn the property.

After a busy day exploring, partaking in activities or just relaxing, our outdoor fire pit surrounded by rustic seating, beckons. As night falls, settle in for a cosy night by the fire and view the beautiful night sky and constellations without any light pollution.

However you decide to spend your time, you have an entire 30 acres of serenity to yourself, along with 1km of the picturesque Clarence River.

Surrounding Area -
Alice is a small New South Wales rural location within the local government area of Clarence Valley (approximately 715km North of Sydney). Our suggestion if you're flying interstate would be to fly into Ballina and drive to Alice which should take approximately 2 hours by car.

There is a small town, Tabulam, located about 20 minutes from The Clarence which has a convenience store, a pub and a post office.

There are a variety of things to do in the surrounding area but a local favourite is to visit Bald Rock National Park, a 90-minute drive from The Clarence. We also have beautiful neighbours who operate horse trail rides along the river and through the surrounding area. Ask for more details if interested.

As The Clarence is located in such a rural area, we will not always be there to meet and greet you upon your arrival. However, we will provide you with a detailed list of instructions to remove any confusion and give you peace of mind to fully enjoy your stay.
