The Quarters Luxe Retreat

Shepherds Hill Shearers Quarters is situated in the stunning Macedon Ranges on a working alpaca stud farm. Following extensive renovations, the quarters are now available for guests to stay in a completely private and peaceful setting in extensive grounds. Within the grounds is a small lake with lots of bird life and beautiful waterlilies, a perfect spot to sit and watch the changing light with a good book and perhaps a glass of local wine! Alpacas graze the surrounding paddocks.

Shepherds Hill Shearers Quarters sleeps up to 4 guests in 2 queen beds topped with luxurious alpaca bedding. The open sleeping areas are upstairs above the living areas. There is a full kitchen with dishwasher, full gas range and Smeg appliances including a coffee machine. The living area is heated with a wood burning heater and there is also a reverse cycle A/C. Floor heating warms the bathroom which is lined with feature galvanised iron and has a walkin shower, there is a separate toilet. We have Starlink WIFI which is super fast!!

The shearers quarters were built about 40 years ago, renovations commenced in June 2022 and finished in Feb 2023. Doors and windows from the original building have been reused and original timbers were used for some construction and features such as the sliding barn door to the bathroom. Plywood lining was selected for the interior for its sustainability and environmental qualities compared to gyprock and other lining materials.

The Quarters are insulated to a very high rating requiring less energy for heating and cooling. Only fallen timbers from the farm are used in the combustion wood heater. Local trades were employed when required with most of the building work carried out by farmer Keith and our farm hand Jansen. All buildings are supplemented by solar power and rainwater collection.

Alpaca products from Alpaca Passion (our store in Daylesford est.2008) are featured in The Quarters with our luxury alpaca quilts and pillows on the queen beds. An abundance of soft and warm alpaca throws are available for the guests to use…..alpaca is renowned for its superior warmth and silky soft handle and it’s light as a feather! Guests staying at The Quarters receive a lovely discount when shopping at Alpaca Passion!!

The Quarters are situated in a completely private and peaceful setting surrounded by extensive grounds which are exclusively for your own use. There is access to a small lake topped with beautiful water lillies and lots of bird life.

Other things to note
*Our rates are bed dependent not guest dependent. If you are a group of two and wish to use the two bed please enter 4 guests into the booking request.
*We are a working alpaca farm and therefore not suitable for pets.
*Please don't feed the alpacas or jump the fences, thanks.
