A great little part of the world, a well appointed two-bedroom cottage with a wonderful fire and everything working, and on top of a hill so great views from the front and side of the h...ouse! A wonderful host family of Tom and his father and mother. The ability to self-cater with all things provided for that, was terrific. The discussion of the wool making process, the local history of the family, the Polwarth sheep, and the district was welcomed along with the free coffees on both mornings we were there.
A good selection of local brochures allowing many options for exploring. Understated but very informative.
To anyone thinking of staying there Meredith and I would totally recommend it. One for our positive memory bank.

What a beautiful place for us to have spent our 40th wedding anniversary. We spent 4 nights at this magical place and it was exactly what we needed. The cottage was wonderful with beautiful finishin...g touches like fresh flowers in every room, and the outdoor bath was amazing. Tom was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome whilst giving us the privacy we needed.
We explored the nearby town of Birregurra, enjoying a lovely Pannini at the Bakery, a beer at the pub and a Gin tasting at the local distillery. We took a drive to Lake Colac and walked from our cottage to the local Cemetery to visit the graves of the early Pioneers of the area. The rest of the time was spent enjoying the full moon from the outdoor bath and relaxing in front of the wood fire in the cottage while starting my new knitting project from wool bought in the Homestead wool shop. So yes, we loved our stay here and will definitely recommend it to our friends and family!!

What a beautiful piece of history here at Tarndie not to forget a getaway to both the Great Ocean Rd AND Otway National Park! Outdoor tub was my absolute favourite part at the cottage as well as the w...ooden fire and open countryside view! The host Tom was super lovely too and enjoyed a morning coffee with him in the wool shop located on the property. Left feeling rejuvenated with a clear mind and open heart.

How good is travelling..! It's something our family have done for generations, but we always came back to our farm at Tarndie. I love nothing more than offering guests aspects of the great hospitality and travel expereiences I've enjoyed in other places and sharing our story of wool.

Sheep Wool Craft History
The Wool Shop at historic Tarndwarncoort is surrounded by grazing paddocks and a heritage listed homestead that visitors can wander around during open hours. A destination for fibre enthusiasts!
Home Grown Wool Shop
Located on the property is a wool shop which yep, you guessed it! - a shop with wool beginning with the sheep on the farm to the very end of creating bundles of wool to then create knits, crafts and all kinds of lovely things!

Town Wander
What a cutie Birregurra town was! Enjoyed a little wander around here and the gluten free bakery was delish along side with a very crafted froffy coffee!
Otway Artisan Gluten Free Bakery
We had an amazing gluten free panini from this cafe. The panini was that delicious, we went back and bought more rolls for later!! It was the perfect pitstop between Lorne and The Stables!
Ugly Stuff Antique Store
If you love antique stores, Ugly Stuff is a go-to in the region! We didn't hold ourselves back and got many pieces for our home project 🤩
A Walk To The General Store
The Main Street of Birregurra - conveniently called Main St is a nice morning walk away which has a small range of shops and cafes. The General store was our destination, as we discovered their incredibly decadent slices (My fave was the kit kat!)
Lake Time
Lake Colac. Great spot with a sand edge right at the water! Great swimming spot although a bit to cold for me during my visit. Coffee van nearby as well as the gardens! Nice hang spot.
