We adored our stay at the Shack and would absolutely stay again. With everything you could possibly need and lots of room to roam around both inside and out, it’s perfect for families and groups of fr...iends. Great location, beautifully decorated and the renovated bathrooms and kitchen will have you settling in and wishing you never had to leave.

A try-hard (and increasingly vintage) surfer who has been completely hooked on all the Surf Coast has to offer for more than 30yrs. This place is our family’s little escape to unwind, recharge, enjoy great food and great company – we are looking forward to sharing it with you.

Split Point Lighthouse

Split Point Lighthouse

On day one we explored the Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet. We wandered at a leisurely pace and didn’t miss the opportunity to head to the beach just beneath the lighthouse to take in a different perspective and also enjoy a little stroll along the beach.
The Captain Of Aireys

The Captain Of Aireys

Hands down the best wood-fired pizza down the Great Ocean Road. Great atmosphere, open fireplace and cute indoor/ outdoor seating. Make sure you make a booking as these guys get really busy.

Amazing wood-fired pizza, made with local ingredients, served in a great atmosphere. Would also recommend the brownie for dessert!

Freshly Brewed Beer At Salt Brewery

Local beers from local brewer's - you can't go wrong with a laid back, beach vibe pub with fresh taps running from the brewery, we opted for the tasting paddle as we couldn't choose one beer.
Cafe Onda

Cafe Onda

A great surf-themed cafe just a short walk from our stay with yummy eats and great coffee! These guys have some beautiful plant-based menu options and some lovely local produce too.

Cycling The Great Ocean Road From Aireys To Lorne

You probably wouldn't usually think of taking a coastal cycle at the end of May along Victoria's south coast, but armed with some extra knobbly gravel tires and a high vis jacket I thought I'd give it a go. In a gap between showers, I took a ride towards Lorne from Aireys (approx 20km), a pretty sketchy affair but made easier with the quiet midweek winter traffic. Coming down the winding road and getting glimpses of the ocean between the trees was a pretty special occasion, no wonder they shoot so many car commercials down in these parts. I finished my ride in Lorne with a coffee and damn good toastie from the Lorne Larder while my brother caught up to me in the car, surfboard in tow. I would have definitely kept going if it weren't for the beckoning of a bushwalk and waterfall to check out. Next time I'll attempt with a full crew and head a bit further towards Apollo Bay.
