This was the perfect little retreat away from our usual busy Auckland lives. With all the basic necessities that we could need & not too far from the town. The bed was super cozy & warm. It was enjoyable being with the surrounding sounds of nature & the amazing views. A getaway to remember.

My partner and I had an incredible stay at the Matakana Retreat, it honestly exceeded expectations in every way.
The setting is absolutely stunning, tucked away in peaceful nature with just the right... balance of seclusion and comfort. Waking up to birdsong and winding down under the stars made it feel like a proper escape from everyday life. The Airstream itself is beautifully done — stylish, spotless, and surprisingly spacious, with everything you need for a comfortable stay while still keeping that unique off-grid charm.
The attention to detail really stood out, from the cosy bedding to the thoughtful touches that made it feel both luxurious and welcoming. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating a special experience here.
Perfect spot for a quiet getaway, whether you’re looking to relax, recharge, or just enjoy something a bit different. We’d absolutely stay again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and peaceful retreat near Matakana.

What's not to love? Lovingly restored airstream, lovely undercover outdoor space, outdoor shower and hot tub, fire pit, all on land that is genuinely considered, cared for and worked with - perfection!

You can't beat the night sky in a location like this - far enough away from city lights, right up the top of the hill, with yawning trees and calling night birds to keep you company. If you're lucky, you might even hear or spot a Kiwi, with some being released in the area!

Nothing beats an oudoor tub surrounded by nature - whether its in the afternoon sun, with the cool rain settling on your cheeks, or under the glow of a million stars while the ruru call.
Rongo Pathway A Stunning Short Bushwalk
The kaitiaki (guardians) of the land on which the Matakana Retreat stands have lovingly designed the Rongo Pathway walk together with a local Rongoa practitioner. While short (5-10 mins), the walk takes you through a stunning sanctuary on part of the regenerative farm, where you can bathe your senses in the surrounding nature.

The Farmers Daughter is an absolute gem - located en-route to Omaha Beach it is set in beautiful grounds overlooking the water, with a view of their very own produce gardens where you might even spot the chef popping down to gather ingredients which will end up on your plate shortly after. And what a plate it will be, with beautifully presented (and tasting!) dishes of quality kai.
