Nestled in the heart of our lush Birdcloud 16-acre property, this large open plan living space offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
The “Treehouse” is an ideal getaway for couples or small families seeking a space for birdwatching, hiking, reading, writing, yoga, or meditation.
Perfectly located, we're just, 5 mins from Mt Jerusalem National Park, 15 mins from Mullumbimby, 25 mins from Brunswick Heads, and 35 mins from Byron Bay.
Immerse yourself in nature with this unique retreat, where outdoor living meets comfort and tranquillity. Wake up to the sounds of currawongs, cockatoos and kookaburras, or keep an eye out for fairywrens, goannas, echidnas, and perhaps even a koala.
Enjoy a morning coffee on the spacious elevated deck overlooking the lush rainforest gully. Cook under the stars with the fire pit (available in safe weather conditions) or take advantage of the kitchen, featuring a microwave, small fridge, single electric cooktop, coffee plunger with ground coffee and tea, as well as pantry staples like olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Explore private bushwalking tracks on the property, or venture to nearby Mt Jerusalem National Park, home to stunning trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes. After a day of exploring, refresh in the outdoor shower with instant hot water. The shower and modern eco-friendly composting toilet are thoughtfully designed with serene forest views.
While there is no air conditioning or insect screens on doors and windows, the large roof fans and mosquito net over the queen bed provide a cooling breeze and keep mozzies at bay. This is a place to disconnect, unwind, and embrace the beauty of the natural surroundings.
You will share a short gravel forest drive with the main house. While the Treehouse is private and set about 100 meters from the main house, the road to the main house passes the Treehouse. The main house is visible through the trees, but your privacy is fully respected.
The water comes from a rainwater tank and after heavy rain may have a slight tannin colour due to eucalyptus leaves—perfectly natural and safe to drink.
There is no running water inside the Treehouse—the sink is located outside, offering a unique opportunity to stay connected with nature.
The fire pit is available only in safe weather conditions and during non-restricted periods. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to use it. We will provide firewood at no cost.
Please note that mobile reception may be limited depending on your carrier, and there is no WiFi—making this the perfect place to truly unplug and unwind.
As the Treehouse is set in the forest, expect to see insects and spiders.
As we maintain the property as a wildlife refuge we are unable to accommodate pets.

I had such a relaxing weekend at the treehouse, waking up to birdsong, the breeze through the trees, and sunrise streaming through the huge front windows
Jodie and Ross were incredibly welcoming and ...helpful, and it was a pleasure meeting them. The directions were clear and easy to follow, and the mud map they provided made it simple to explore the nearby waterfalls, lookouts, and walking trails.
The outdoor shower was one of my favourite features with privacy, warm water, and surrounded by stunning forest views.
With excellent amenities, beautiful surroundings, and genuinely welcoming hosts, the treehouse was the perfect place to unwind. I can't wait to come back!

Local Rock Pools
A perfect spot to dip your feet on a hot sunny day!
Koonyum Range
About a half an hour away, driving through the buzzing town of Mullumbimby, is Koonyum Range. There is a secret locals spot with beautiful rocks and waterfalls looking back down to Byron Bay. If you know, you know, and if you don't, you will need to reach out to the Byron based Riparide team for your special secret directions.
Goonengerry Lookout
We opted for a brief tour of the lookout, which was an easy 10-minute walk each way. However, there are many other hiking and loop options available in the National Park.
Koonyum Range Lookout
Breathtaking views spanning across the Byron Shire all the way to Byron Bay lighthouse.
Boogarem Falls
We ventured into Mt. Jerusalem National park and stopped in at Boogarem Falls, which offered a relaxing waterhole surrounded by peaceful forest.
Find Peace At Crystal Castle
Stunning gardens and location. We particularly enjoyed the sound healing session, wandering in the gardens and the bamboo forest. A peaceful place to visit.
