Mabi – Gundungarra word for Quoll (of which we have seen four on Tanjenong, near the campground). Mabi overlooks the spectacular views of the southern end of the Great Dividing Range.
The sleeping quarters are in a 4.5 meter Dome made from homemade aircrete blocks.
The 260 Ha property covers extensive stretches of untouched Bush with great bushwalking. The beauty of taking our bushwalk is that you can experience a real sense of the solitariness and ruggedness of the Aussie Bush. There would rarely be other walkers who you would encounter on your hike. It is important to remember that this area has been described as having some of the cleanest air in NSW. There is a lichen which grows in this area which indicates that the air is incredibly clean.

Additional Information
GLAMPING DETAILS
Mabi is a 4.5 meter dome that has a deck, comfortable deck chairs, umbrella protected outdoor dining area, a mud kitchen with a sink and gas cooking hob and steel ring fire pit with plate for cooking your meals on. There is a supply box that contains pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils for your own use at the site. In the dome there is a queen bed and an eating nook with a view in case of inclement weather.
CAMP KITCHEN
There is a small but comfortable camp kitchen which we have developed for tourists to retreat to in case of bad weather. There is a lounge area with a fireplace, a dining area with seating for 6 and a well equipped kitchen area with a sink preparation table, and a three burner gas hob. Pots, pans, cutlery and crockery are also available in the Camp Kitchen.
These seperate areas allow for different groups of tourists to enjoy the camp kitchen at the same time. The camp kitchen offers another possibility for group gatherings with it’s generous deck, bar and outdoor sitting area. There is also a BBQ on the deck if the camp fires become too wet.
There is also a fire pit with a motorized spit and outdoor dining area situated on the hill above the Kitchen for groups to enjoy.
SHOWERS
There are two showers. Both are glass fronted and are perched on the very edge of the hill so you get the feeling that there is very little between you and the mountains! It is truly a spectacular experience. There is a solar heater on top of the showers which allows for hot showers. We do ask however that you are careful to restrict your usage for the shower to 2 -3 minute showers.
TOILETS
There is a toilet block at the back of Tanjenong camp. The two toilets are composting toilets. Be careful to read the instructions when using the toilet. They operate very like normal toilets but some instructions are necessary.

We moved to Tanjenong from Canada at the beginning of 2006. Tanjenong is the property where Deb grew up. Rob is a Canadian who has lived much of his life in Sydney.
When we arrived much of the property had been neglected so there was an incredible amount of work to do. Our background in house renovations and construction helped us develop the Campground and amenities on the property in keeping with both the environment and the comfort of our guests. Our Mabi Dome is made of homemade aircrete blocks and was only the second such structure built in Australia.
We have had extensive experience with media and arts industries in Sydney and that design element is very strong in the aesthetics of all the amenities.

Abercrombie River Walk
This is the longest walk. It is an approximately 5 kilometre walk and can take up to 3 hours depending at the pace walked. This walk winds down through spectacular gum forests to the river floor where you will see the casuarinas trees, an abundance of bird life and the Abercrombie river itself. Parts of the walk can be strenuous, so please be sure to take a lot of water. We have seen platypus in the river so remember to take your binoculars.
