Immerse yourself in Italian history.

The Old Macaroni Factory (1859) stands as a testament to Italian heritage. Constructed by Italian political refugee brothers Pietro & Giacomo Lucini, this beautiful Palladian-style building is the oldest of its type in Australia.

Pietro’s Residence in the northern annex is rich in history - the ceiling murals are political and poetic. Now lovingly restored to retain the original raw character complete with contemporary glamour and comfort.

View the bedroom walls and ceiling murals depicting Italy’s fight for unification, while you snuggle in pure linen sheets.

Living room ceiling murals showcase snippets of Italian memories. A striking one-off artist designed sideboard houses a sink, bar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities and Italian treats (no cooking facilities). Modern facilities include hydronic heating, gas fireplace, TV (streaming only) and designer furnishings.

The bathroom (WC & Shower) ‘pod’, crafted from duck-egg blue glazed tiles, is so pretty on its raised platform complemented with luxurious ‘Loom’ towels & ‘Leif’ amenities.

Original stone steps from the back door onto your private sun-soaked terrace and bocce court complete your Italian immersion.

Explore our garden, meet the guinea fowl, wild ducks and the occasional kangaroo or echidna.

The Old Macaroni Factory - ‘Lucini’s Lounge’, ‘H.D.C. Long Room’ and ‘Macaroni Room’ – are available for special events and private functions for 10-30 guests. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting a celebration. Food and service by local hatted restaurant, The Surly Goat.

These rooms have a separate entrance to Pietro’s Residence.

The Old Macaroni Factory building and gardens are listed with Heritage Victoria.

Wow. I'm not sure what else there is to say. What a privilege to stay in this historic building for a weekend, surrounded by walls literally embedded with rich history.

The bed was so comfortable. Th...e bathroom was clever and beautiful. The outdoor terraces were a treat; it was lovely to enjoy our lunches and morning coffees al fresco, and it truly felt like being somewhere in Italy. We were a little concerned about how we'd get by without full kitchen facilities, but managed absolutely fine and had everything we needed to make coffees, breakfast and keep our panini ingredients cool in the mini fridge.

Jennie and Jenni were fabulous and generous hosts, more than willing to give a tour of the property in full and speak to the story of the place. You can feel the love put into preserving this property. An unforgettable experience that we will treasure. The only downside is that we couldn't get our hands on that delicious homemade muesli...

Taste The Hepburn Mineral Springs

Did you know... all of Australia's mineral springs occur in Victoria!? With the two main locations being Daylesford and Hepburn it is a MUST do when you visit. Learn a little bit about the history of the springs, taste the water (with caution haha.. I wasn't a fan) and if the weather permits enjoy the beautiful nature walk the springs are placed along.
