Additional Information

There’s so much to see and do in the area. Here’s a few suggestions:
• Take a drive down Hurst Road to Red Rocks and head right to a semi-secluded beach.
• The walk out along the point at Point Roadknight is spectacular at low tide. There are many rock pools to explore. Walk around the back-beach and take one of the tracks up over the sand dunes. You’ll find your way back.
• Take a drive to Forest Park out the back of Lorne, and take the Canyon Walk or pick a bush trail to one of the many waterfalls. Visit QDOS fine Arts along the way.
• Head to Teddy’s lookout, which overlooks George River in Lorne.
• Erskine Falls not far from Lorne is superb.
• A day trip. Drive 10 minutes past Lorne, to Cumberland River. Walk through the caravan park and up the river to Jebb’s Pool, where there’s a small natural waterslide. Check the pool below for submerged objects that may have washed downstream. Tuck your legs and be careful of the slippery rocks, as you drop into the pool below.
• For the more adventurous, drive to Eastern View and park just past spout Creek at the Devils Elbow. To the left of the parking spot is a steep climb down to the beach (for the fit and able only). Walk around the rocks to the right on low tide and explore Grassy Creek river-mouth. If you continue to walk along the rocks towards Lorne, you’ll find 2 caves in the hillside.
• Head to the Wye River pub for lunch.
• For those that seek to go further afield, head to Apollo Bay and see if you can find Elliot River, a picturesque little beach.
• For safe swimming head to the patrolled beaches of Jan Juc and Torquay. Always watch your children. Sand banks can collapse at any moment and conditions can change fast.
• Enjoy the cliff top walks, especially the track from Jan Juc to Bells, or in the other direction into Torquay. Aireys Inlet also has amazing scenic clifftop walks.
• Enjoy breakfast and/or lunch at Swell Café in Jan Juc, on the ocean-side of the Great Ocean Road in Torquay.
• Have a meal and/or a drink at local venue Birdrock also in Jan Juc.
• The Aireys Inlet pub is a great venue, and has the fire lit through Winter. Head across the road for something a little fancier.
• The Esplanade in Torquay has a variety of cafes and restaurants. Book early in Summer.
• Try Roku Den restaurant for Japanese, my favourite.
• Il Matto Italian restaurant is also great.
• Blackmans Brewery in Torquay has the finest craft beers.

We loved the bungalow that much we came back again…. And will be coming back regularly. Such a great spot, so close to the coast and yet you fell in the middle of nowhere. Thanks Peter for another ripper weekend away.

Such a beautifully styled abode. Loved spending the evenings unwinding snuggled up in the deeeeeluxe bedding watching TV after a day of adventures by the sea. Great outdoor firepit area too and so grateful the outdoor shower had hot water! A wonderfully designed stay that I'd happily return to.

We’ve just had the best experience at the bungalow. Peter is an incredible host and a ripper fella. The bungalow will be coming part of our regular and routine getaways. It’s so simple, so easy to use, so close to everything. Thanks again Peter we loved staying at the bungalow.

Pottery Making At Ashmore Arts

A wonderful class learning how to make pottery and the wheel. Our lovely host Chela took our class and it was so much fun and a really different type of adventure that we highly recommend.

My day doesn't start until I have my morning coffee. It's scary how good the coffee is at Ocean Grind.
