Hands down one of the best weekends away we've had. La Serra is a stunning little glasshouse tucked into the Byron Bay hinterland .

The design is breathtaking, the locally sourced breakfast treats we...re a lovely touch, and the bathroom situation is genuinely next level — deck baths with forest views, plus a superb shower that looks straight out into nature. The firepit evenings under the stars were pure magic too, and we spent time exploring the nearby rainforest and creeks which rounded out the trip perfectly.

Mara has created something really special here. Perfect for couples who want to slow down, reconnect, and feel genuinely looked after. Already planning our return trip!

Minyon Falls Base Hike

Minyon Falls Base Hike

Minyon Falls is a 200m drop watefall nestled in the valley of Nightcap National Park. This is the start of multiple walking tracks but we chose to hike to the base and were rewarded with the power of the roaring falls right in front of us!

Nightcap Hikes

This beautiful hike down to the base of Minyon Falls is well worth the huffing and puffing on the way back up. If a challenging hike isn't your thing, the view from the top of Minyon Falls (which can be accessed in an easy five minute walk from the car park) is breathtaking in itself!
Doma Cafe

Doma Cafe

This Japanese/Aussie fusion cafe was the best place to enjoy a sunny arvo with the kids. The staff are beautiful and the food is AMAZING!

Scenic Drive Through Town Federal

A cool town and an even cooler drive through the hinterlands. Federal situated out of Byron has it all from lemons on the side of the road to cool Japanese restaurants and boutique stores.

Doma A Lunch Gem

If you don’t already know about Doma, it’s time to get in the knowma. All dad jokes aside, this is one of the hinterlands best kept not-so-secret places to grab a bite. There’s not much out in Federal but what they do have is quality. I love this joint for their sushi hand rolls and outdoor, sunshine dining. Mona and I really took our time here, ordering our warm drinks, and making small talk with some people we knew that we just happened to run into. It’s that kind of place where you’ll see an old friend and possibly someone who’s insta famous (I fangirled out when the @inspiredunemployed took the table right behind us) but it’s not blown out Byron vibes, if that makes sense. It’s cool but it’s not blown out cool (yet). The food is great, the vibe is great - all around great.

The Charming Village Of Federal

We started our day with a must-have coffee at Moonshine Cafe, followed by a visit to the General Store to stock up on supplies. We then enjoyed some delicious sushi at Doma.
