Additional Information
Welcome to our home, we purchased the property in late 2025 and have spent the last 6 months fixing it up to be a stylish and comfortable two-bedroom weatherboard home. We aim to move into the home in 2026 but until then we are offering it for weekend getaways or medium term stays.
Inside, you’ll find a light-filled living space with a comfortable lounge, TV with Chromecast, WiFi, and split-system heating and cooling to keep you comfortable year-round.
The main bedroom features a king bed, heater and electric blanket, while the second bedroom offers a queen bed & electric blanket along with a dedicated study nook. Both bedrooms have a heater.
The home includes a separate dining area adjoining a fully equipped kitchen with a full oven, stove, and dishwasher, making it easy to cook and dine in. The bathroom is neat and functional, and there is an external laundry with a washing machine for your convenience.
The property is on an acre, you will notice we have only fixed up the house so far. We have created some garden beds around the house that are empty, we hope to plant it out in the spring. My favourite spot to sit is on the front porch, listening to the birds and watching the sunset.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the entire house during their stay, including all bedrooms, living spaces, kitchen, bathroom, and dining area.
You are also welcome to use the outdoor laundry and park your car in the carport area. The outdoor table and fire pit are available for guest use, perfect for relaxing evenings outdoors. Please note we do not provide fire wood for the fire pit but there is some available locally to buy.
There are some old sheds located on the property. These areas are not part of the guest space, so we kindly ask that you avoid entering or using them.
Other things to note
This is a strictly non-smoking property.
We are also unable to accommodate pets due to the property’s fencing not being fully secure.
While the property is comfortable and spacious, the outdoor areas do not have secure fencing suitable for young children. There are also piles of brick and other unsafe shedding around that is not suitable for people or children to explore. The property has also not been child proofed. Children must be supervised at all times.

Hi, We are Ross & Ruby!
We recently made the tree change and moved from Melbourne to our little 4 acre country property in Sandon.
Ross a landscape designer & furniture maker & me Ruby, a social worker, and keen vegetable grower are hoping to make our home a beautiful place that others can enjoy.
Ross & I are avid travellers, having spent a fair bit of time in India, Nepal, Japan in 2017. Our aim of moving to the country is to live a more balanced lifestyle allowing us to pursue our creative endeavours & lead a more self-sufficient lifestyle.
Being new to Riparide hosting we welcome you to give us any suggestions on how we could improve our guest house to make it special for our guests. We want our guests to feel immediately at home, comfortable and able to fully relax in the beautiful space & enjoy the amazing surrounding region.
If we are home we are more then happy to interact with our guests whether it is over a cup of tea or a glass of wine, but we also understand that you may want to escape and enjoy the private bliss, which we totally respect. Our house is located on the property as well, so you may see us in passing from time to time.
If you have any questions or would like to know anything else about us, please feel free to send us a message.

Get Out And Explore The Surrounding Area Towns
We jumped in the car with no reception and simply drove, it was great. We found a heap of cute little towns near the property, it was super foggy too which added to the whole experience. We loved it!
Guildford Vineyards Cellar
Thanks to a very much-appreciated tip-off from Ronnen, we indulged in an amazing long lunch at Guildford Vineyard and Cellar. With so many beautiful flavours across a variety of dishes, we didn’t want this lunch to end! We were sure to buy a nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon for later.
Explore Maldon Town
Explore the historical town of Maldon and all it has to offer. Many places are dog friendly, as are the townspeople.
Lunch At The Bridge Hotel Castlemaine
A delicious lunch at the the Bridge, featuring a game of pool with a pint in hand and good company!
Brunch In Tortoise Espresso
From the outside, it’s easy to miss. Just a small window tucked under a small town with a few stools scattered on the footpath. But the moment we joined the short queue, we could tell this place was something special. The smell of fresh coffee, the quiet hum of conversation, and a tray of perfect pastries set the tone.
We’re no coffee experts, but the staff was super friendly and helped guide us through the long list of single origin beans—from Panama to Colombia and Guatemala. we ended up with a cup made from Brazil & Colombia beans, and it was smooth, fruity, and honestly one of the best coffees I’ve ever had. My wife tried one of the filter coffees from Indonesia which tasted amazing.
To top it off, we had the most incredible tuna melt—crispy, cheesy, full of flavour—and a salmon bagel that was fresh, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Simple food, done exceptionally well.
Tortoise Espresso might be small, but the passion and quality packed into that little window is huge. It’s the kind of place you wish you could take home with you.
