Eppalock Hilltop Retreat is an Eco-Friendly Tiny Home situated on 20 acres of secluded bushland in the Lyell State Forest. It boasts hilltop views of Mt Alexander and the Eppalock ranges where you will find an abundance of wildlife such as Kangaroos, Wallabies, Goannas, and lots of bird life.
Enjoy some local cider included in your welcome hamper while soaking in the outdoor wood fired hot tub, or cozy up with a movie beside the mini log fire inside.

The tiny home itself is fully self-sufficient running on 12 volt solar, LPG Gas, and a composting toilet system. It features a loft-style bedroom with Queen size bed, full gas kitchen, bathroom with shower, vanity, and toilet and lounge/dining area with a mini log fire.
As this home is off grid, there are no 240 volt power outlets. There are 12 volt outlets & USB outlets throughout the home.

Aside from the 20 acres of bush land to explore, there are two outdoor areas to enjoy. Located just outside the home is a bath tub, table and chairs and chimenea fire place. A shade sail is fitted over the bath & outdoor area in summer.

The second outdoor area you can use is located approximately 100m away from the home. It has a wood fired hot tub, table and chairs, chimenea fire place, gas BBQ and a small shelter from the weather.

We stopped by Lang’s Lookout on a quiet morning, not really knowing what to expect—just following a little sign near some big towers. The walk from the car took only a couple of minutes, and before I knew it, we were standing on this huge granite platform, surrounded by massive boulders. It felt like nature’s own balcony. The view was something else. Rolling fields of Sutton Grange stretched far into the distance, with Mount Ida and Bendigo faintly visible on the horizon. The wind was cool and fresh, and for a moment, everything felt still. Just us, the rocks, and the open sky.

We didn’t rush. I sat on one of the boulders, taking it all in. There was a quietness that made you want to stay longer. It was simple, beautiful, and surprisingly easy to get to. Before heading off, I noticed the start of the West Ridge Walking Track nearby, connecting to places like Dog Rocks and Shepherd’s Flat. I made a mental note to come back and explore more next time. Lang’s Lookout might not be well known, but it’s a hidden gem I’ll definitely remember.
