The Pocket Studio

You're an artist. A reminder that we all are, no matter what we do. This is a place that will make you want to create, unwind and be present.

This house was once a large working art studio. Today it's a 2 bedroom home with a plunge pool, surrounded by trees, boulders and open lawn. The floors still carry the paint of years of making art, and prints of beautiful artworks hang on the walls. It's a space that has been lived in, worked in and loved.

Come on your own, with a friend, or with a few creative souls. Do some drawings, write some music, map out your next chapter, or spend time nurturing your creative visions. Or just come and be. Simple as that.

The view

The house is elevated high on a peak, looking across to valleys on either side deep in nature, untouched treetops with the rare bird life native to the area.

The space

The heart of the house is one big open room under a high timber ceiling. Large barn doors slide open to the garden, so the inside and outside become one. There's a long timber table for shared meals or work, soft couches to sink into, and a wood fire for cooler nights.

The kitchen looks out over the green valley. Both bedrooms are calm and simple, with doors opening to the garden. Outside, the plunge pool sits on a timber deck among the trees, and the shower is open to the ferns and palms.

Why come

This is a place to breathe. To drop everything and reconnect with what you really want to do, away from the noise. Wake with the birds, work in the light, swim, cook, watch the sunset over the valley, and talk late around the fire.

Stay longer

Some things need more than a weekend. We welcome weekly and monthly stays for anyone who wants time to settle in and let the work unfold: artists, writers, musicians, or anyone starting a new chapter. Send us a message and tell us a little about what you'd like to do here.

The art on the walls

Next door

There's a second dwelling on the property, also available for short stays. Perfect if you're coming with a bigger group or want a little extra space.

Every Friday morning the markets come to life with fresh veggies, music, bread, oysters & so much more. Definitely worth waking up early to grab some supplies and fill your bellies to kickstart your weekend.

Hot Brews At The Paddock Project

With our sights set on Mullumbimby, we stopped in to visit Joah at The Paddock Project for a hot brew and a wander around the veggie patch. Sipping our coffee under Mount Chincogan, we could already feel the stresses of modern-day society melting away behind us knowing we were settling into a slower pace for the weekend.
