CARRIAGE DETAILS
Can sleep 6 but 2 or 4 would be more comfortable. See Sleeping Options below:

SLEEPING
It can sleep six people, but two to four would be more comfortable. The two small bed rooms were train seating compartments, only 2.1m square, so they are only just longer than a bed. The rooms are close together, the bath room is between the kids and second bedroom and there is not a lot of audio insulation. You can hear what is happening in the next compartment.

It is ideal for:
•A couple, with the whole train for themselves it is pretty spacious.
•A couple and two kids.

It should work well for:
•A couple, and up to four kids. Two kids would need to sleep in one queen bed. A great place for kids to take a friend.
•Two couples, as long as they were good friends. It would be close living.

It may work for:
•Four adults, one in each bed. The single beds are train beds, like caravan beds (750mm wide).
•Six adults would be possible, but only if you are planning to be out most of the day and out for dinner. If it a just place to sleep, it could work.

FEATURES
- 3 Bedrooms. Two in a single compartment with a double compartment master bed room. Two Queen beds, two thin train singles.
- Full linen service with beds made up for you on arrival.
- Bathroom with shower
- Open plan kitchen/living room
- Wood fire box heater with wood supply included
- Full small kitchen with stove, oven, sink, fridge and cupboards
- WiFi
- Italian Stove top coffee maker and French Press (plunger)
- Basic provisions like olive oil, spices, tea, coffee, Vegemite and Glad Wrap
-2 adult mountain bikes suitable for trail riding. Helmet (shared with house next door).
- Pets and children welcome. The yard is fenced but a clever dog could easily escape.

NO TV. There is a stereo, books and board games. There is not a washing machine, nor dryer.

Steam, certainly wont be for everyone, but we have had great feedback from the young and the young at heart. There seems to be a great fondness for the "Great Age of Steam", when locomotives were king! In the late 1800's trains were the greatest technological achievement of humans, they opened new horizons, and were a symbol of power and progress. We hope we have tapped in to this, and we're excited to be able to share it with guests.

The conversion of the “Steam Train Carriage” into accommodation has been done with such great flair and romance!

The enticing website photos are accurate but can’t quite depict the magic of actually... staying in this vintage carriage. This unique space is filled with many finely tuned details such as quality linen, comfy furnishings, plenty of firewood, beautiful toiletries, flowers beside the bed and freshly picked herbs on the kitchen bench. The outdoor areas have also been thoughtfully considered. Together such touches deliver luxury, comfort, indulgence and solitude and they make you feel “just a little bit special”.

Bathing outdoors under the shimmer of the chandelier was the highlight for me but so too was curling up in front of the wood burning fireplace with a glass of red wine while my partner played his guitar.

Fleur is great to communicate with and has obviously found her perfect niche as an exemplary accommodation provider.

“Steam” is fabulous and a really hard place to leave.

We truly loved our stay here. Great interior decorating, felt like we had stepped back in time almost! The details were beautiful, the whole train was so comfortable and accommodating. The real highli...ght was the bath on the back deck, just magic listening to the birds in the evening with the chandelier light on. Kitchen had everything you needed and walking distance to the Forrest Brewery, which was great. Our little dog was very happy there running around and it was safe for him being down a quiet dirt road. Would absolutely recommend! We are staying at another property run by Fleur in a few weeks in Walkerville and cannot wait.

My husband Mike and I have always shared a sideways way of looking at things. We have always gravitated towards one-a-kind things and places. This and our love of travel led to us buying an intriguing cabin back in 2005, which become Liptrap Loft.,winning awards and hearts alike. From there, we began managing nearby properties, which evolved into our full-time business: Dufflebird - Unique Getaways for The Curious. We now offer a curated selection of delightful properties for effortless holiday rentals. Our collection includes six distinctive properties within a 2.25-hour drive of Melbourne. Three are our own, and three are carefully chosen for their exceptional qualities. Each property is a destination in itself, offering a tailored and enriching experience. Our guests appreciate not just a place to stay, but also artistic touches and a seamless process, which helps us attract visitors who treat our properties with care.
