Hunter River Retreat is situated on 110acres and approx. 2hrs from Sydney, 15 minutes from Maitland, with boutique wineries close by and the main Hunter Valley wineries approx. 30 minutes away. Full Day Bus Winery Tours can also be organized that pick up from The Retreat - you can taste and not worry about driving.

COTTAGE DETAILS
Cedar cottage is a private fully self-contained cottage with a jacuzzi spa on the deck. It has 2 bedrooms a queen bed in one bedroom and 2 singles and one set of bunks (2 singles) in the second bedroom. It has magnificent views of the valley and Hunter River.

Fully self contained kitchen, an outdoor setting on the deck, wood fire, colour TV, CD player, DVD player, hair dryer, bush BBQ, linen provided, air-conditioning and parking underneath.

You can just relax on the verandah , with a glass of local wine and enjoy the peace and quiet or if you feel energetic you can go for a bush walk and explore the surrounding bushland. The log fire is an added bonus for romantic winter stays, along with your own private jacuzzi.

GUEST ACCESS;
Guests have access to most of the property, with many bushwalking tracks.
There are 5 separate cottages on the property and the swimming pool is located in front of Ironbark Lodge and is for use by all guests.

Meet our resident animals our horse Smoky, Max & Elliott (miniture donkeys) who roam the property often coming right to your door for sneaky treat. Molly & Murphy are Scottish Highlander Cows, and we have recently welcomed 2 baby Alpaccas, Feel free to collect your fresh eggs from the chickens.

Bushwalking On The Property

There is 110 acres to explore, there are numerous walks from easy walks to mountain climbs. The spectacular views of the valley are worth the climb.

Watch the sunset as you relax in the spa on your private deck. Or inquire about our picnic platters and head up the mountain to watch the sunset enjoying some local wines,

Bush Walking Wildlife Spotting At Your Door Step

Set on 110 acres of bush, the choice is yours, whether you want to be adventurous and go for a hike, explore the bush, bird watch or sit back and enjoy the peace and serenity. Kangaroos and wallabies are spotted close to cottages at dawn/dusk.

Wine Picnic At Sunset

Right up the top of the hill on the property is the BEST place to view the sunset! There's picnic baskets and blankets that can be found in "The Hub" on the property and I drove all the way to the top to set up a little picnic! Was absolutely stunning.

Hot Tub At Sunset

I enjoyed a snack board at sunset while not leaving the hot tub! Absolute bliss!

You can help feed the animals located on the property. They roam free along day long! I collected the chicken eggs and had them for brekky the next morning. Me and the donk are the best of buds now!
