The Old Dairy is a relaxed and comfortable place to return to after a day exploring South Gippsland and the beautiful Wilsons Prom, it is situated on a quiet lane off the main Prom road just 2km south of Fish Creek. There is nothing too fancy here, it has simple charms, no-frills decor and is spacious, homely and full of plants, we are sure you'll like it!
The house comfortably sleeps 3 however we can supply camping mattresses for larger families or groups who are travelling on a budget.

OLD DAIRY DETAILS
On entering The Old Dairy a large hallway provides ample space for muddy boots or sandy shoes. A sideboard stores spare blankets, a picnic rug, hot water bottles and local tourist information and maps.

There is one bedroom with a queen size bed and a single trundle bed. In the main living space there is a single daybed. All bedding is supplied.
We also have a travel cot(pleases if you require this to be supplied) but you would need to bring your own cot bedding.

The spacious open plan living space is comprised of a comfortable lounge area, the separate day-bed, a large dining table and a well equipped kitchen.
There is a wood fire with a plentiful supply of firewood and kindling; a selection of books, magazines and board games; there is no TV but there is free wi-fi and a bluetooth speaker.

The kitchen is equipped with an oven, a small fridge, a microwave, a kettle, 2 stovetop coffee pots and a toaster. There is a large selection of pots, pans, crockery and utensils. We also supply freshly ground coffee and a selection of teas, also, depending on availability - fresh eggs and fresh vegetables from your host's garden.

The bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower (no bath, sadly). Towels, face washers and soaps are supplied.

The Old Dairy yard is equipped with a bbq, picnic table, deckchairs, and a chiminea. The paddock has large established trees (often home to our visiting koalas) and a young orchard.

There is a carport for one car and plenty of space for more.

My husband Mike, myself (Helen) and our two sons are very excited to be sharing our little Old Dairy, we lived here for several months when we moved to Fish Creek in 2014, then it was in a very sorry state. The surrounding paddock was waist high with grass and surrounded by huge pine trees. We've enjoyed re-vegetating the land, planting new trees, adding a veggie garden and giving the land a new-life. We hope you like the dairy as much as we do!

Second visit to The Old Dairy and once again enjoyed it. The space is light , comfortable , clean and tidy and cute! The garden is vibrant! And the local area has plenty to do with inland walks , beach close by and great produce available straight from the makers and farms. Thanks!

We had such a beautiful stay in this little house in Fish Creek—it was everything we were hoping for and more.

From the moment we arrived, the place felt incredibly cosy, warm, and inviting. It had t...hat perfect “home away from home” feeling, with thoughtful touches that made it easy to relax straight away. The house was spotless—honestly one of the cleanest stays we’ve experienced—which made it even more comfortable.

The natural surroundings were just stunning. Waking up to the peaceful scenery and fresh country air was such a highlight, and it really felt like a proper escape from the busy whirlwind of everyday life.

Helen was a fantastic host—friendly, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. She made sure everything was seamless and added to the overall experience.

We also loved exploring the local area. Fish Creek has some really funky, unique places to eat that added a fun vibe to the trip. Plus, being so close to Wilsons Promontory National Park was a huge bonus—perfect for day trips and taking in some of Victoria’s most beautiful scenery.

We’d absolutely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cosy, relaxing getaway!

We loved our stay at the Old Dairy. It was a cosy base for exploring the area. We took day trips to the Prom and rode the rail trail to Foster, both of which were easily accessible from the accommodation. Helen was a great host. Communication was good. Highly recommend!

Sunset At Mt Nicoll

We decided to check out the sunset from nearby Mt Nicoll. Only ten minutes away from the Old Dairy, this was an easy choice. A short five minute hike through bushland leads you to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding hills and towards Wilson's Prom. The golden glow over the hills was phenomenal, we watched the sun go down with the local roos and wallabies.
Sunset is my pick for the best time to visit. The drive up the hill is a little steep on loose gravel and may not suit smaller cars.

Swimming Surfing

Waratah Bay (12 minutes drive) is a great beach for swimming, the expanse of beach means it is never crowded, even in peak summer. Further west, Walkerville is great for exploring with its beautiful coastline of rock pools and caves. To the East, Sandy Point offers great surfing.

Sandy Point Beach

A stunning stretch of coastline awaits fifteen minutes from the Old Dairy. We picked Sandy Point beach for a nice morning walk and some cool ocean air. Whilst not quite swimming weather, we still ended up a little wetter than planned. The whole stretch from Sandy Point to Walkerville is worth a look and we enjoyed a cruisey drive to check out the South Gippsland coast.

Kayaking

You will find the Darby River on your drive into Wilsons Promontory. The river winds it's way with views of the mountains before flowing into Whisky Bay. Tidal River is located within Wilsons Promontory National Park and flows into Norman Bay. You can also kayak or stand up paddle at Tidal River.

Day At The Prom

Wilsons Prom is a must when down this way. The weather was warm, with little wind, so it was a perfect day for the Prom's beaches. A controlled burn thwarted our attempt at visiting Whiskey Bay or Squeaky beach, so Norman Beach in Tidal River was the go. A great beach for swimming with kids as the river mouth snakes its way into the ocean and provides calm and warm water to bathe in. The imposing views of Mt Oberon and the trademark orange tinted rocks of the Prom really make this a scenic delight. We relaxed the day away on the beach and even grabbed some small, clean and fun waves on the surfboard.

Wilsons Promontory National Park

Wilsons Promontory offers secluded pristine beaches and coastal forests set alongside the backdrop of the National Park's granite mountains. A range of hiking opportunities are available at the prom, from taking in pristine beaches, temperate rainforest, towering sand dunes or lookouts offering spectacular panoramic views.
