A little piece of history, set on 4 acre surrounded by Green Gully creek & tucked under the Sandon ridge. The original stone dwelling (circa 1853) was running as the Sandon Tavern until around 1910, the second dwelling (studio) built approximately 20 years ago has a beautiful large living room with fire place, entertaining courtyard with pizza oven & two beautiful bedrooms. It is the perfect weekend get-away to relax & explore the local surrounds of Castlemaine, Daylesford & Maldon.

Location: The closest town is Newstead which is about a 5 minute drive, Newstead has a little IGA, pub, and cafe. We are conveniently located to explore the region, Castlemaine is only 20 minute drive, Daylesford is 25 minutes, Maldon is 15 minutes, Clunes is 20 minutes. Let us know if you'd like some recommendations on what to do in the area.

STUDIO DETAILS
Ross and I live on the property in the main cottage, if we are home, feel free to knock on the door to say hello or wave as we wander by.

In the guest house we have two queen size beds with bedding & towels provided. We have a lovely outdoor court yard for you to enjoy and the surrounding garden. Feel welcome to collect fresh eggs from the Chicken coop.
The space does not have a full kitchen, however we have a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, electric stove, fridge and in the courtyard we also have a dishwasher, full oven along side a pizza oven. We've tried to make it as user friendly as possible.

The house has a large fire place and a split system for both heating and cooling needs.

We have recently created a tiny pottery studio which we would be happy for guest to use/experience for a small additional cost. If you are interested in this please message me to discuss the details before booking.

Lastly there is limited phone reception, generally we can get enough to make a call or send a text when we are in the paddock however we can not guarantee this as it's always changing. We have very good WiFi set up for you to be able to use while you are here, so you can still communicate with the wider world over internet based apps or turn on wifi calling if your phone allows.
We also have a TV with chrome cast so you can stream your shows.

If you have children please let us know if you require a port-a-cot or children's mattress - we are happy for children to stay however we have not child proofed the house and you need to be aware of the creek that runs our boundary.

Unfortunately our facilities do not currently accommodate wheel chair access.

The spa bath is unfortunately not in use as we are on tank water.

Please note if a code red fire day is declared (extreme risk) we will have to cancel your booking or if you are here we will have to ask you to leave as it is not safe to stay. This is apart of our fire plan, we also do not stay on the property during these times. These days are not common but if this does occur when your booking is we will provide a refund and communicate this with you as soon as it is declared. Pizza oven can not be used on a total fire ban day.

No smoking inside the house please.

No pets - sorry we wish we could but the farm surrounding has sheep and we do not have proper fencing to keep your dogs safe from roads/escaping.

Hi, We are Ross & Ruby! We recently made the tree change and moved from Melbourne to our little 4 acre country property in Sandon. Ross a landscape designer & furniture maker & me Ruby, a social worker, and keen vegetable grower are hoping to make our home a beautiful place that others can enjoy. Ross & I are avid travellers, having spent a fair bit of time in India, Nepal, Japan in 2017. Feel free to spend some time with the chickens on the property, and they are super friendly and cute. If you are lucky enough, you may even get one asking for cuddles and also get to fetch the fresh eggs for breakfast.
