With stunning mountain views, kangaroos grazing at your doorstep and a roaring open log fire, the Redgum Cottage creates a space to step back from the hectic pace of modern life. The cottage offers you 60 acres of beautiful native bushland as your own secluded getaway. A place to unwind and reconnect with life’s simple pleasures, exquisite sunrises, glorious sunsets and some well-earned downtime all set at the foot of the Grampians National Park.

This hand built cottage has arisen from many recycled and restored materials such as redgum log slabs saved from the forestry, pine kitchen cupboards of New Zealand kauri pine found in the old St Arnaud Flour Mill. Even the sunburst on the Range Hood comes from an Australian built 1925 H.V.McKay, ‘Sunshine’ grain harvester.

Fire Wood Policy
We supply one wheelbarrow of wood per day to each cottage.
If you require extra wood during your stay it can be purchased at $15 per wheelbarrow.
We do not operate the fireplaces during the fire season (December, January & February) or on Extreme Fire Days

The Redgum Log Cottage was a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and warm, and we really enjoyed our two nights there.

One small note: the host mentions that the kit...chen should be left as clean as it was upon arrival, but there weren’t enough cleaning supplies available to properly clean the kitchen. Providing a few more cleaning essentials would make the stay even better.

We had the best time, we thoroughly recommend staying at Red Gum Lodge, tha ambience was absolutely fantastic, the views stunning, friendly hospitality from Adain and Corinne made our stay even better..., but the welcoming committee was what topped it off the beautiful hens that ran over to say hello ( they didn't really hope to be fed did they 😉) our stay was a lot of fun and relaxing thank you 😀 facilities are great, will definitely be going back.

Halls Gap Zoo

Halls Gap Zoo and Grampians Pioneer Cottages have teamed up to offer you the ultimate Keeper & Sleeper (Keeper for the day - Pioneer for the night) packages. These zoo and accommodation packages can be tailored as required and will cover zoo entry, ‘Animal Encounters’ or ‘Keeper for a day’, and two nights accommodation at Grampians Pioneer Cottages.

We walked to the Pinnacle and as we walked the clouds started to clear and we were greeted with some amazing light breaking through the clouds as we reached the Pinnacle.

Kayaking

The Grampians National Park is the ideal place to hit the water for a paddle. Cruise the streams, lakes and creeks and enjoy the stunning landscapes and soak up the natural beauty. Either bring your own kayak or you are able to hire canoes and kayaks from local operators and set out on the waters of lakes Bellfield, Wartook, Fyans and Hamilton. Bring your fishing gear and cast a line while you’re enjoying the scenery.
