What an amazing experience at poets lodge! We stayed for my birthday two nights in the garden loft, it was such an inspiring beautiful place to stay at every detail was thought of. The loft itself was... in a perfect location, just hidden at the back of the property so it was very quiet and peaceful perfect to stay in the colder months as we enjoyed the wood burning fireplace as well. Also great walking distance to all of the great restaurants and cafes. The host Angeline is so lovely, she left us a cheese platter which we enjoyed when we arrived with bubbles we brought. Thank you Angeline for an amazing stay at the garden loft we will definitely be back! From Bec and Zain

Easy going and friendly people. We love houses that are homes, warm and modern designs, art, architecture and music. We travel as much as we can and do so as often as possible. On shorter trips we explore the shores off Australia in our Coaster Bus. We love the outdoors, sunrises, sunsets, vineyards, good food, fishing, bush walking and bike riding. Angeline is Irish and runs a small Marketing Company and also manufactures branded merchandise mainly for the automobile industry. xx

Pancho Cafe

After our sunrise mission to Lake Daylesford, a warm coffee was on the cards, so we did a quick google search and stumbled across Pancho cafe. Logistically it was also the closest cafe to the Lake (2-minute drive), so it made sense too.

This cafe has a super rustic cottage vibe and serves up some really delicious breakfast's, as well as some top-notch coffees (coming from two coffee phenes). There are upstairs and downstairs areas, as well as an outdoor courtyard that is pet friendly. We chose to sit upstairs for some peace and quiet and it did not disappoint.

Picturesque Lake Daylesford, where you can rent a canoe, have a swim or just soak up the sun with a picnic on the grassy banks.

Lake Daylesford

We knew we had to check out the infamous Lake Daylesford during our trip, so we decided to get up early for a sunrise mission on the lake.

As we parked the car in the Lakes main car park, I noticed a beautiful jetty on the other side of the lake, which I just had to see (for some gorgeous photos). After a quick check on the Lakes Map, we realised it was about a 20-minute walk around to the other side of the lake. The walk itself was breathtaking, as we were accompanied by the constant chirping of birds, ducks quacking, water trickling and the smell of clean and crisp country air.

Once we reached the Jetty we quickly fired off a few must-have photos, but the real highlight was sitting on the end of the jetty in complete silence with my fiancé and watching the sunrise. The perfect start to our day!

Porcupine Ridge

We asked our wonderful host Angeline if she had any recommendations for scenic drives in the area and she recommended Porcupine Ridge Road without hesitation. Naturally, we follow her advice and we definitely weren't disappointed. The entree to Porcupine Ridge Road is only about a 10-minute drive from Poets lodge and you can drive it to end in about 30 minutes.

The entire time we were surrounded by rolling grass hills (think Windows screensaver green hills), the sound of birds, castles and absolutely no cars or people in sight. We stopped multiple times along the road to just take in the country air and soak in the sights.

Trentham Falls

Discover the beautiful and lush Trentham Falls, Victoria's highest single-drop waterfall. The falls were formed some five million years ago by molten lava rapidly cooling as it flowed along the old Coliban River valley.
Trentham waterfall cascades 32 metres onto the quartz gravel below. Located in the Wombat State Forest, this natural wonder is particularly enchanting in winter when every moss covered rock and fern glistens with water.

Spot wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, echidnas, koalas and many species of birds. The Wombat State Forest is an outdoors lover’s paradise. Activities include four-wheel-driving, bush walking, picnicking and horse riding.
