Looking for an adventure, an escape, or just an opportunity to reconnect with nature? ‘Wildernest’ offers a unique off-grid experience, staying in a tiny house (nicknamed "T2") nestled amongst the bushland on the edge of the Wingello Forest.
T2 is an architecturally designed, sustainably built tiny house. It's small by its very nature, but it's clever design and a few little luxuries help max out every nook and cranny of the space. The tiny house operates completely off-grid, running off solar for power and gas for heating and cooking. T2 opens out onto a large undercover deck that overlooks a rolling rural landscape in one direction and the adjoining forest in the other.
Just moments walk from your tiny house, you'll find yourself in the forest surrounded by 100 year old gums, spotting a mob of kangaroos and following the sound of the trickling stream to a small waterfall. You'll come home from your adventures to a hot shower, a cold drink and a kitchen equipped with the essentials to cook up a storm. After settling in by the firepit until well into the evening, you'll eventually pile into a comfortable bed made with luxurious french linen sheets.
The whole idea of Wildernest is an off-grid wilderness experience that offers an escape to a secluded area. It’s all about nature, big gulps of fresh air and whole lot of R&R. For the more restless types, its a great base for an adventure - bush walking, mountain biking, wildlife spotting, forest bathing - or perhaps exploring the Southern Highlands foodie hot spots is more your thing.

My partner and I had the most amazing getaway at the Wildernest T2 tiny home! In a secluded location surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, this getaway was the perfect mix of calm and adventu...re. It left us feeling grounded, refreshed, and connected upon our return home.
The outdoor fire pit was great to cosy up in front of after enjoying a hot bath in the outdoor tub…with a glass of wine of course (the perfect way to wind down at the end of the day). Each morning we woke up to beautiful bird songs and spectacular views, with the yard covered in vibrant coloured crimson rosellas.
Throughout the day we could hear a lovely lyrebird practicing its calls near the home and we were lucky enough to spot one while on our adventure walk through Fairy Bower falls. We spotted a few wombats waddling around the private property too while on a sunset walk, and got a great look at some of their impressive burrows!
After exploring nearby towns like Bundanoon and enjoying serene views like those at the Grand Canyon lookout, we enjoyed returning to this cosy home at the end of each day to unplug and soak up all that it has to offer.

A beautiful off-grid tiny house with everything that you need for a cosy getaway. The fire pit, internal heating, and quilt kept us warm on cold nights and mornings. We regularly had visits from womb...ats in our yard and kangaroos passing by. Close to the tiny towns of Tallong and Wingello, but also a manageable drive to Bundanoon or Marulan for more options. Would highly recommend.

After a few decades of living in the big smoke, we moved our family away from the crammed craziness of city life to the Southern Highlands, a place that offered a slower pace with more space. We’ve loved every aspect of this transition – fresh air, room to roam and for the kids to run like wild, space to grow our own produce and to tread a lighter environment footprint. The idea of Wildernest came about after having countless conversations with our city friends wanting to escape the city for a break, wanting to unplug, unwind and to take a break from it all. So we created T1 and T2 tiny houses in one of the most beautiful spots we know. The idea being a totally off-the-grid escape, one that is eco-friendly and treads lightly on its beautiful surrounds, but still has all the little luxuries.
