SUITE DETAILS
We absolutely love sharing the Macedon Ranges with new and returning visitors so we hope you'll choose Mokepilly as your home-away-from-home for your stay in the region.
Mokepilly is located in Macedon, at the base of the stunning Mount Macedon, and is at the gateway to the beautiful Macedon Ranges spa and wine region. There's no shortage of opportunities to experience this special part of Victoria as a foodie, nature-lover, adventurer, cyclist or art-connoisseur.
We're a 35-minute drive from Melbourne International Airport and a one-hour drive from the Melbourne CBD. If you'd like to enjoy a trip on the V/Line Velocity train, we're a three-minute drive away from the Macedon railway station on the Bendigo line. Alternatively, the pleasant 1.9km walk from the station can be easily navigated and generally takes between 15 to 25 minutes. We may be able to provide you with transport to and from the Macedon railway station so please let us know if this is an offer you would be interested in taking up. That said, to make the most of your stay in Macedon and the Macedon Ranges we'd strongly recommend traveling by car so as to provide for quick and easy access to local sights, activities and businesses.
The suite is perfect for one or two adults, and we are happy to welcome guests traveling with infants or toddlers - with space for a port-a-cot in the bedroom and a one-person bath, the suite easily accommodates little ones.
We have furnished guest suite with careful consideration for the comfort and enjoyment of our guests whom we encourage to make the most of their stay by enjoying the many amenities of the space - a fully-equipped kitchen with complimentary teas and local ground coffee, a Smart TV with Netflix, a soundbar and a DVD player, free WiFi, a large single-person bath and laundry facilities.
Please note that while there is a gas fireplace in the space it is not in service - for safety and sustainability reasons the system was decommissioned prior to us offering the space through Airbnb. You will instead be kept warm, cool and everything in between, as needed, by a reverse-cycle heater/air-conditioner in the main living space which was recently updated to a brand new model in July 2022 to maximise both guest comfort and environmental sustainability. A huge super warm and comfy pure wool blanket is also tucked away in the bedroom cupboard if you need another layer.
The garden at Mokepilly has been over thirty years in the making and features a large collection of rare and unique plants, a productive vegetable garden and a rose garden boasting over two hundred and fifty varieties including many highly fragrant and very beautiful English and French roses.
When the garden is in bloom, we'll endeavour to leave you with some fresh flowers to enjoy during your stay and to take home with you so that your time at Mokepilly lasts just that little bit longer.
While in pre-COVID-19 times it would have been our absolute pleasure to provide you with a personalised tour of Mokepilly as part of our welcome, keeping our guests and family safe by strictly adhering to the government's social distancing measures is of course a priority.
On arrival, you will be met at the front gate by your host for a contactless, socially-distant welcome. Your host will then provide you with direction to the on-site parking and guidance on where to locate the keys and guest manual for the suite.
While the space is connected to the main house by a long corridor, the entrances to both spaces are secured by locking doors. The main entrance to the suite is separate from that of the main house so you will have complete privacy during your stay. If you have a car, you will be able to conveniently park right next to the entrance to the space.
During the warmer months (October – April) the Macedon Ranges is classified as a significantly bushfire-prone area and the safety of our family and guests is our utmost priority during this time. All guests visiting during the fire season strongly are encouraged in download the VicEmergency app, the official Victorian Government app for access to relevant and tailored emergency warnings and information in Victoria. Please note that as conditions can change at short notice, we do reserve the right to cancel bookings (but will provide a full refund, of course) and/or ask you to check-out early on days of ‘Extreme’ or ‘Catastrophic’ fire danger – this is simply a matter of safety and you will only be asked to leave if safe to do so.
Off-street parking on the property is available for one car, however, we may be able to accommodate a further vehicle. Please let us know at the time of your booking if you will require parking for an additional car so we can advise what's possible.
Your hosts are very friendly and helpful so if you have any issues at all, assistance is only a phone call, text or Riparide message away. You will be gladly provided with information about the Macedon Ranges and surrounds, and offered plenty of recommendations for a wide range of experiences and activities including dining, cycling, bush-walking, gardens, wineries, distilleries, art galleries, and much more.

Having grown up in the Macedon Ranges, I'm so grateful to have had the privilege of living in one of Victoria's most beautiful and dynamic locations, where I now host a guest suite through Riparide - Mokepilly Macedon Ranges - with my mother Karen on our family property in Macedon. I love gardening and growing roses, trail-riding, dressage and working equitation with my horse Frodo, watching movies, exploring nature and hanging out with family and friends over a local sparkling Shiraz or a good craft gin. I am a volunteer firefighter with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) at the Mount Macedon Fire Brigade, and work in wellbeing, advising and mentoring in higher education. My own travels have included Papua New Guinea, Southern Africa (Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe), Japan, Thailand and a number of Australian destinations including lots of adventuring in Far North Queensland.
