The Old Dairy offers gorgeous country style self catering accommodation for two people, in a converted 1940's weatherboard dairy shed. Located on a 150 acre olive and beef cattle farm in the glorious Upper Hunter Valley in NSW, the cottage enjoys spectacular views of both the Goulburn River and Wollemi National Parks. A terrific stopping point from the east coast to the Central Tablelands and Central West of New South Wales. Experience nature at its loveliest, with abundant wildlife on the farm (including resident kangaroos), a meandering herd of much loved Limousin & Angus cattle & our gorgeous (nearly 30 years old) white pony Buddee. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of rural life & bunker down for a few days, to completely recharge your batteries. Or bring your bikes or hiking shoes and explore some of the stunning local roads and scenery. The choice is yours!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Beautiful country charme and perfect for a weekend away from the city. Very easy communication with Sarah. Definitely recommend to stay here!
We enjoyed the landsc...ape a lot and did some road cycling in the surrounding, with most roads paved and almost no traffic, which was amazing. Also recommend to do the wine tasting at two river.

Sarah was an amazing host, providing curated information about the local area before we arrived. We even won the meat raffle at the local pub! Thank you Sarah for your thoughtfulness and generosity. The accommodation was just what we were looking for, perfect for a weekend away. Thank you again!

In 2000 we purchased a small 150 acre farm in the Upper Hunter Valley and proceeded to plant 750 olive trees, establish a herd of Limousin/Angus cattle & restore the old dairy shed into beautiful accommodation to be able to share this unique & beautiful part of the world with others! A lot of work - but life has never been dull! After a few years of hiatus - to bring up two small girls - we’ve got The Old Dairy cottage accommodation back up & running. There’s never been a better time to explore your own backyard!

Country Walks

Mt Dangar Road is the perfect place to enjoy a bit of peaceful exercise in the morning or at sunset. There are only ever a handful of cars a day that use the road. It winds along local farmland past an old c1860's slab timber church and cemetery.

Bike Riding

Bring your bike and enjoy cycling along the loop road that is Mount Dangar Road. The road winds past neighbouring farms, with stunning views of the Goulburn River National Park AND the Wollemi National Park surrounding you. Half way down is a tiny c1860 slab timber Anglican church/cemetery.

Road Trips To Beautiful Local Valleys

Baerami Creek and Widden Valley are two truly stunning parts of NSW. Both are located at the northern end of the magestic Wollemi National Park. It's well worth packing a picnic and pulling your car in alongside the creeks to enjoy nature at its most serene.

Hike Denman Tower Lookout

Take in the incredible vista from the Denman Tower Lookout. The unobstructed views over the town and neighbouring areas are truly spectacular! The short 1.7km trail is steep in parts so good walking shoes are recommended, or you might find yourself slipping and sliding your way down if the path is a bit wet!

Wine Tasting At Two Rivers Wines

If you’d like to sample some of the region's produce, there is an abundance to choose from! We visited Two Rivers Winery, a beautiful vineyard with even better wine! Be sure to sample some of the wines they have to offer, or if the moment takes you, the cheeseboard- delish! The view from the top of the winery isn’t to be missed, a short walk or drive from the cellar door amongst the vines!

If you choose to head into town, walk down the high street and be greeted by a touch of old-world charm. Be sure to drop into Fresh Denman, a must-visit! The food is excellent, plus it also stocks great products from the Hunter region and further afield.
