Located on the spectacular banks of the Hawkesbury River a double row of casuarina trees border the water’s edge giving a sense of intimacy opposite the ancient gum tree-covered hills that cradle the river. The evening sun which casts an orange glow across the rock formation sets the tone for the perfect gin and tonic.

Escape the rush of the city and enjoy the tranquillity of the stunning Hawkesbury River. The grand veranda of the heritage listed cottage over-looks 75 acres of rolling grounds down to 2kms of private river-frontage. With 6 bedrooms, sleeping up to 6 people, Berry Hill is the ideal setting for a group trip away, retreat or destination wedding.

For over 190 years, Berry Hill has had many chapters in its journey. The property’s connection to the past is inescapable and is featured in Kate Grenville’s The Secret River. A place where you can embrace creativity and switch off from the rush of the city. An opportunity to slow down and reconnect with nature to appreciate just how special this part of the world is.

This was by far one of the best weekends away I have ever had with a group of mates. The property is incredible, the amenities top notch and the Hawkesbury River... well, one of nature's finest. It was everything we needed and then some to make some qualities memories that will last a lifetime.

We had a fantastic stay at Berry Hill and honestly it's beyond our expectation. The cottage itself was stunning with beautiful rustic yet modern interior, spacious living room and charming country sty...le kitchen. The wraparound leafy verandas was our favourite spot to have a drink overlooking 75 acres of rolling green hill.
The master bedroom was such a stellar with walk in robes and charming bathtub, a few steps from the cottage is the 3 contemporary homesteads with even more majestic view, we seriously love our morning coffee here.
This property is blessed with massive outdoor space and beautiful river frontage means you can do so much thing you could ever imagine.
I strongly recommend the kayak along the Hawkesbury river, It's so serene and tranquil.
The host, Nick & Simon was an absolute legend, very prompt communication and they always do their best to make our stay memorable.
Couldn't recommend this place enough, everything was just perfect. The only downside was the fact that we have to check out, will surely be back!

Historical Hike At Convict Trail

This convict trail hike is truly unique, It takes us along the Old Great North Road, an amazing feat of engineering that was built by convicts in the 1830’s to link Sydney with the Hunter Region. The information panel along the walk really does bring history to the history to life. It's like we walked into an open-air museum with some engaging convict stories.

Only 30 min drive from Berry Hill to Wiseman ferry, this walk is very accessible. To get the most out of this trail (and understand more of the history), we recommend making a big loop that includes Finchs Line - the original road which was in use before the Great North Road. This circuit gives you a better grasp of the Great North Road’s history and is more scenic.

Exploring St Albans Historic Village

This tiny historical village is worth a visit. The locals call it "Slice of Paradise". No wonder for a hundred years travellers would rest on the main road from Sydney to the Hunter Valley. We visited the St Albans Inn for an afternoon drink where locals gathered as a hub of the village. The drive here was very scenic with a strong countryside and farming atmosphere, make sure to check out Mogo Creek which is a further 10-minute drive from the Inn and get ready to be astonished by the scenic view of the lake.
