Beautiful house in a beautiful town! We enjoyed our stay! The house is very clean and tidy!

We spent five nights at the Oak Tree Cottage in Woodend. Whilst the furniture and kitchen were acceptable for a holiday stay, I certainly would not call it a 'Modern Farmhouse', as this might be misle...ading for someone. The photos shown on riparide are all very inviting. It is an old house, partly renovated and located on a sometimes very busy Street with heavy truck traffic from a nearby quarry. It was very disappointing that the decks and the garden had not experienced any proper maintenance for quite some time. We did not want to clean the outside furniture with many bird droppings, web nets and weathered . Construction work of two new houses next door did not support a relaxing stay either. Due to the unpruned trees surrounding the house, the lights had to be switched on even during daytime. Since there was no photo shown of the bathroom certainly had a reason.

The tree out the side was delightful on a warm summer day. The house was cosy and the kitchen was incredibly well stocked. Both with supplies and equipment. We had a great time.

There's no shortage of cafes, pubs, boutique stores, farmgates and wineries to visit, along with abundant natural attractions including the ever-popular Hanging Rock, only a 5-10 min drive away.
Sanatorium Lake
The Lake is a beautiful spot for walking and horse-riding trails. Swimming is not permitted in the lake. The best time of year to explore this area is in spring and summer. Head off on the 2.5km easy walk which passes through several different landscapes including tall eucalypt forests and a lush fern gully.
Trentham Falls
Discover the beautiful and lush Trentham Falls, Victoria's highest single-drop waterfall. The falls were formed some five million years ago by molten lava rapidly cooling as it flowed along the old Coliban River valley.
Trentham waterfall cascades 32 metres onto the quartz gravel below. Located in the Wombat State Forest, this natural wonder is particularly enchanting in winter when every moss covered rock and fern glistens with water.
The Trentham Falls Reserve, located on the Great Dividing Range is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic by the river. There are great facilities, including picnic tables, barbecues and toilets nearby.
