“The secret of happiness you see is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less.” – Socrates

We at Qii House are excited and welcome the Tiny House experience. A bird’s eye view of endless magical forest and sunset landscapes; akin to nature and the art of living in harmony with nature and Otway rainforest life. Our latest installation of three custom Tiny Houses is complete and grace the landscape at Qii House…in hiding. More happy, relaxed retreat spaces for your enjoyment!

Qii House has worked on this project with “Treehab”. Treehab was formed by people who are passionate about design, innovation and most importantly sustainability. Their mission is to provide innovative solutions that are environmentally sound and sustainable, and to be well equipped in the provision of the small creature comforts we all adore! Each tiny home is custom designed for the specific place, client requirements and purpose taking in passive, contemporary design principles. We are excited to announce it is the very first tiny house installation in the Otways and in the whole of Western Victoria. There are some in the Dandenongs and the Yarra Valley. Your stay will be history in the making! What an adventure!

TINY HOUSE DETAILS
Our three “Tiny Houses” each have unique Japanese Zen names…
We will market “Ukiyo” which means “floating world”; living in the moment detached from the bothers of life, “Kensho” meaning “seeing one’s true nature and “Kokoro” meaning a sensory, feeling one gets if we were to take a moment to reflect on the interconnectedness of all things; it is the embodiment of concepts of heart, mind, spirit, will, consciousness and soul.

“Thoughts, feelings, and desires, or will, are all interrelated aspects of what it means to be human, and we would be wise to take all of them, and their interrelationship, into account in order to understand human experience.” – Swanson, 1993

These tiny eco dwellings have been custom built to complement the principles of “Forest Therapy’ or “Shinrinyoku’ which is a popular practice in Japan. Shinrin means “forest” and yoku means “bath.”

Shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses. It is a researched-based therapeutic modality with multi-factorial health benefits including stress reduction and elevating mood, and is impacting the world.

The tiny houses underpin “Qii House’s” philosophy and each is immersed in a forest canopy within the Great Otway National Park; a haven for peace and tranquillity. And yes, they do have some “quirk”, including red cupboards, colourful furnishings, a large pantry, queen day bed with three built-in drawers, Smeg appliances, a large round “fishbowl” window, double sliding glass doors leading to your own private deck with a large custom-built eco bath big enough for two, a hammock, yoga mats and some seating. You will also have your own private carpark.

Japanese inspired Thatch communal garden room with seating and a barbeque.

The property has an INFTA internationally accredited rainforest walking circuit for Forest Therapy for your use; The Zaborin Walk. Zaborin is a Zen meditation word meaning to sit and forget. Together with the character for “woods”, it encapsulates the essence of our purpose, to sit, to forget, to unwind, and to absorb the natural beauty within the forest. To breathe…in mind and body.

There is a delightful Japanese inspired thatch garden gazebo for use as a communal cooking facility. It houses bench seats, a small red table and a Gasmate Barbeque. A few metres away you will find a Billabong to further enhance your forest bathing experience.; The “birabon” is the Japanese term and namesake. It will provide you with a magical wildlife exploration and meditational setting for contemplation. You will find another Japanese Thatch garden room at the waters’ edge and ample seating, another space to deepen your connection to nature. And an ideal perch for birders.

Our mission is to provide you with a transformational travel experience for deepening self-awareness through connecting to nature. The natural bush setting offers our guests a quiet respite designed to connect them on a deeper level to nature

We hope that your tiny home away from home experience will be transformational, leaving you feeling refreshed, energized and inspired! When we discover nature, we discover ourselves.!

House Rules
The Tiny Houses can be booked independently. In this event facilities at Qii House are reserved for those who book Qii House only, and are out of bounds. An exception is for a large group booking where Qii House and one or more of the Tiny Houses are booked. Total accommodation capacity including Tiny House accommodation is for fourteen persons. There are some bird feeders on location; you may wish to bring some wild birdseed. If on a larger group booking a torch would be useful when returning from the main house.

Guests should please maintain an eco-sustainable mindset and conserve energy and fresh rainwater. Rubbish is to be placed in the bins on site along the driveway, please. Noise should be kept at a minimum respecting the other house guests. We thank you in advance for your kind co-operation. Take care. Please enjoy your stay!

Perfect little tiny home for a long weekend escapade in the middle of the forest. Organised, clean, and well maintained house. We received a very warm welcome with lots of amenities left by Heather. We had a super relaxing night with only the rain sounds and the trees. Highly recommended place!!

Me and my partner had such a beautiful stay at the Qii Tiny House in Lorne, Japanese-inspired design made the space so unique and calming. We were welcomed by a warm and cosy space, along with a thoug...htful gift basket and special items prepared for the outdoor bath tub by our lovely host Heather.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, we couldn’t resist using the outdoor bath tub right outside our tiny house on our second night—and it was absolutely amazing. Once we were submerged in the hot water, with the bath salts, bath tea, and handmade soap provided by Heather, we were completely relaxed. It was so quiet and peaceful, with just the gentle sound of the wind moving through the trees, and the soft drizzle of rain on our faces made the experience even more magical. It truly felt like forest therapy at its best.

The tiny house itself was spotless, cosy, and perfectly designed for a couple’s retreat. We loved every single moment spent there and left feeling refreshed and reconnected.

We would highly recommend Qii Tiny House to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway in nature ⛩️❤️
