This beautifully renovated forestry hut is located behind our main house, in our little piece of paradise. On 63 acres, home to Fay, Bushie, two horses, one dog , this oasis is tucked away with the only neighbour looking at us being Mt Buffalo, or as the locals call her, The Grand Old Lady.

The property hosts an abundance of native birds, Mr Wally wombat, deers and kangaroos. Backing on to State Forest, there are many walks from a 20min walk to a 2-4 hour walk in the hills or quietly along the river. You have access to BBQ facilities and a pool in the summer months.

The naming of the love shack came about upon purchasing the property some 13 years ago. Fay's father, at the time 90 years of age, and his girlfriend, 91 years of age, automatically named it the Love Shack as they envisaged, once renovated, them sitting in bed, playing cards and taking in the view and so the name stuck. In keeping with the name, we have created a luxurious, romantic space for two.

A nature oasis with meetings of different wildlife. We visited in winter so misty mornings and night added to the atmosphere. We were taken care of with great amenities and recommendations to do around the local area. We loved our stay and will be back.

Staying at the Love Shack was the most peaceful and enjoyable place. The location is just amazing and Fay and Bushie's property is something to die for. The hosts were so amazing - very friendly, grea...t to have a chat with and were so helpful and enthusiastic about us enjoying our stay. I will definitely be going back and i think its a place that everyone should visit.

Bike Ride Or Walk Into Town

Bike along the Rail Trail or walk/drive into the townships of Porepunkah (9 mins drive, 6.8km walk) and Bright (16 mins drive, 13.3km walk), offering many restaurants, cafes and shops or drive up to The Grand Old Lady and take in the spectacular views. BYO Bikes or use the tandem bike provided.

The Rail Trail

At the end of the Bushies Love Shack driveway, you’ll see the rail trail, at this time of year the autumn leaves are changing color and are amazing to see.

Mount Buffalo

We hiked from the Eurobin Creek car park to the top of Mount Buffalo.

Eurobin Falls

Relax with a picnic taking in the sights and sounds of the mesmerising Eurobin Falls. In the warmer months, you can have a refreshing dip at Ladies Bath, just 400m from the car park. (1.5km, 45 mins return)

Mt Buffalo Walk

If you like a challenge Fay can guide you on a walk from the foot of Mt Buffalo to the top, which is about 10kms, stopping off at the waterfalls along the way. Bushie will collect you and drive you back down the mountain.

Canyon Walk

Canyon Walk - 4 km / 1.5 hours return
This walk takes you past a small canyon carved by the Ovens River and water races dug by early miners. Watch for birdlife and wild owers especially in spring.
