Valley View Country Retreat - Tiny House

Coined 'Bruns' by locals, this vibing little beachside town isn't just picturesque, it boasts some of the most incredible culinary offerings. We spent an entire day relaxing and eating our way around town, taking our tastebuds and senses on one hell of a journey.

We started our day with margaritas and lunch at the popular Mexican joint 'La Casita'. The rustic furniture and chilled vibe made for a sweet spot to grab a bite to eat under the trees before strolling down to the 'Natural Ice-cream Australia' truck.
Serving gut-focused ice cream using locally foraged and indigenous ingredients the flavours are unexplainably good. Wal has created some kind of magic here! We had prebiotic Smokey Paperbark ice-cream with Coffee and Maple sauce and also some kind of Blueberry & White Aspen Fingerlime situation - seriously tasty.

Escaping the heat we made our way to the river, it was high tide, the river was buzzing with life. Kids jumped from the bridge, and kayaks glided past. We found a shady spot and spent the next couple of hours relaxing and digesting, slipping in and out of the refreshing water to cool off.

The perfect way to end our afternoon was with a glass of wine and tapas at 'Honour'. The deli cabinet is filled with premium salumi, cheeses and house-made terrines & rillettes by Chef Anna Mortimer, made using traditional French farmhouse methods. Husband and sommelier Ameryric talked us through the interesting wine list and poured the perfect glass to enjoy our food.

Only 20 mins up the road from Byron Bay, this town is well worth the journey!

We strolled down New Brighton beach and grabbed breakfast at the local cafe Yum Yum Tree, the place has an endearing community vibe. Sitting under the trees with friendly feathered locals waiting for leftovers we watched the nearby river ripple by. The food was nutritious and moreish, we noted they do woodfire pizza and live music on the weekends. We will be back!

The sunrises and sunsets are absolutely spectacular and even better enjoyed from the clifftop walking track up to the lighthouse. It's the perfect spot to watch surfers and if you're lucky you might spy a whale or pod of dolphins!

The menu at Harvest showcased delightful ingredients sustainably sourced from local suppliers. Not only were the dishes incredibly tasty, but they were also beautifully presented with a wine list to match. We had smoked Trout with yoghurt & Davidson plum, Coffin Bay Oysters, Snapper ceviche, Asparagus & Proscuitto plus decadent Chocolate and Blood Orange dessert.

The bright and breezy weatherboard house boasted tall ceilings and greenery, the staff were friendly and attentive.
