If you dream of leaving the modern world behind and immersing yourself in the great outdoors, then a stay at The Willows could be just the ticket.

Our Guest house is a two-story lodge with an open fire, communal kitchen & living area, 2 shared bathrooms & separate toilets, 6 rooms (with space for an additional two single beds in the living area.)

Located near Anglers Rest in the remote and ruggedly beautiful Bundarra Valley, The Willows is an authentic working horse property offering homely accommodation and warm hospitality. An hour or so from Dinner Plain/Mount Hotham and a stone’s throw from the Bundarra, Mitta Mitta, and Cobungra Rivers, it’s an ideal base to explore the region’s fantastic cycling, mountain biking, bushwalking, skiing, seasonal white water rafting & fly fishing. And when you come home, you can enjoy a hot shower, tasty meal, and campfire under a blanket of a million stars in one of The Willow’s High Country huts or our Guest House.

The Guest House is comfortable for large groups and has a wood burning fire. We're near the Alpine National Park in a ruggedly beautiful part of the High Country. Our remoteness means we rely on solar so mobile reception is zero or patchy, ideal for a "digital detox". The Guest House has limited power supply, and personal electrical appliances cannot be used. But with outdoor opportunities galore, you'll want to ditch your phone and immerse yourself in nature.

Additional Information

We're on the edge of the Alpine National Park in a remote & beautiful part of the High Country called the Bundara Valley.

The scenery is stunning and there is fantastic horse riding, fly-fishing, bushwalking and cycling opportunities on the doorstep. Mount Hotham, Dinner Plain and Falls Creek are about a 1hr 15mins drive away. (**The Falls Creek back road is closed over the snow season so it becomes a 3 hour drive in winter**)

The nearest town is Omeo & is around 40mins drive away. We have a pretty little pub called the Blue Duck Inn (where you can get ice) 10 mins down the road. Our location means you can't just pop into the shop. Therefore we'd recommend bringing everything you need for your trip so you don't get caught out.

Due to our remote location, a vehicle is necessary to get around.

**We have a 2 person minimum and only one group/related party at a time for our COVID Safe plan**

We have a number of animals on the property. We've got a small flock of guinea fowl that like to nosey around outside the main house and occasionally the guesthouse, and we've got a mob of horses that live in the paddocks nearby. We've also got some lovely wildlife on the doorstep too. So, if you love animals and enjoy nature you're going to enjoy staying with us.

- Smoking is allowed outside the house provide cigarettes are safely extinguished in an ashtray.
- Dogs are allowed provided they are well trained and kept on a lead around the property.

Sadly the property is in need of a lot of maintenance. Uneven walking surfaces, window frames rotten, external doors upstairs rotten, decks rotten and unsafe, indoor fire flue broken, termites, hazard...ous steel poking from the ground, tennis court deteriorated. Cathy does a great job, is friendly and helpful. Cathy had the place clean and presentable with what she has to work with. Location is good- if no maintenance is undertaken soon a lot of history will be lost into a pile of rubble.

Rivers

Rivers

For some the lure of the High Country is not in our sweeping alpine vistas, but in the iconic mountain rivers and lakes. The Bundara, Cobungra, Mitta and Victoria Rivers Rivers flow through the picturesque countryside. Find a shady spot under a tree for a picnic and cool off in the pristine waters in summer. Floating around on a lilo or tubing is a popular past time.
Falls Creek and Mount Bogong High Plains

Falls Creek And Mount Bogong High Plains

Explore the rich alpine history alive in the hills and aqueducts surrounding Falls Creek. The walking and hiking trails expose you to the beauty and majesty of the Bogong High Plains.

Explore the undulating plains for the vibrant alpine wildflowers, breathe the clean air and take in the beautiful views. If you are lucky you might also catch a glimpse of wild brumbies. Historic huts, regenerating fire-damaged snow gums and Mt Bogong itself are a constant reminder of the living spirit of the region.

Hiking And Mountain Bike Riding

If you love bushwalking and cycling, then our position on the edge of the Alpine National Park makes us a great base from which to explore the region on foot or two wheels. Just 45 minutes up the road is Mount Wills. A moderately challenging 3km hike, we think this walk has one of the best reward for effort ratios in the region because the views at the top are truly breathtaking. Enjoy panoramic views of the High Country that includes a view to Mount Kosciusko in New South Wales on a clear day. The trail head starts at the Tallangata Ski Club.

Falls Creek, Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain alpine resorts are all within easy reach of us. All three resorts have a plethora of diverse walking trails, road cycling routes and mountain bike tracks that can be accessed in spring and summer.

Mt Hotham features a massive 320 hectares of skiable terrain. With roughly 75 runs accessed by 13 lifts, there is something to suit everybody's ability. Dinner Plain is also a great family alternative for day trips
