Stone House Farm Stay On River

Completely serene, the property is on 17 acres of rolling hills, tracks and has a beautiful river that runs along the back of it (with resident platypuses, that is not shy!) and a creek with cute mini waterfalls too. Fire pits, fireplace and more make it the perfect place to escape in nature and just RELAX. The firepit area has beautiful views of the sunsets and the night skies are some of the clearest in Australia perfect for seeing shooting stars.
There is an abundance of wildlife with a very friendly resident platypus in the river, wombats, koalas, cows, and a huge array of native birdlife that love hanging out in the house paddock

We recommend 3-4 nights to really enjoy what our beautiful property has to offer.
Located in the gorgeous little village of Nowendoc, only a 5-minute walk to the general store that sells all the essentials you need (burgers, sandwiches, fried foods, snacks, drinks, alcohol, and fuel).

Plenty of things to do within an hour's drive but honestly you won't want to leave once you are here.


The house is a gorgeous stone and brick home, super cosy it has been updated to be light and bright, but still maintains a certain english cottage/american ranch house charm.

The large fireplace heats up the whole space and makes it just delightful in the colder months (we do get snow up here).

The bathroom has a shower and gorgeous claw foot bathtub with stone walls and stained glass windows.

There are 3 undercover outdoor entertaining areas, so there is plenty of space for everyone. Each area is perfect for a particular time of day!

The bedrooms have been appointed with comfy beds and soft luxurious bedding so you get the best night's sleep possible (because what is a trip away if you don't come back refreshed). Electric blankets are provided in the colder months to keep you toasty.

The kitchen is perfectly appointed with an electric oven, fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee machine. We have included tea, coffee (good quality), and other pantry essentials (salt, pepper, olive oil etc etc) plus long-life milk too. Cutlery and everything else you need is also available.

The lounge room is sunken, and appointed with lovely, comfy furniture, making it the perfect place to snuggle up in front of the fire and read a book or watch a movie.

Wifi is also available and the space is perfect for those who need a working holiday (writing that book, setting up your website) no distractions apart from the beauty of the farm here.

The general store is only a 5-minute walk down the road and they sell essentials, alcohol, and takeaway food (the burgers are great). There is also the Nowendoc tennis court 5 minutes down the road too and we include tennis rackets and balls if you feel like having a play.

Pack a picnic and head down to the river, where there are plenty of places for you to sit and enjoy the sounds of the water running and rapids. Take a dip to cool off.

Lots of fun for dogs Rivendell is dog friendly (with some rules to keep our beautiful space in tip-top condition).

We have an area set up for you to wash your dog if they get dirty from having too much fun on the farm (clean dry dogs inside only)

Rivendell is secluded and private but also centrally located to many incredible places to visit.

1 hour 20 from Tamworth

It is a 45-minute drive to Walcha which has some amazing places for food and drinks, art galleries, and shopping, and also super close to Apsley falls and national parks.

It is about 1h 20 from the historic town of Nundle that has a great pub and some incredible shopping.

Only 1 hour from Gloucester too which is at the base of the world-famous Barrington Tops.

Within a 20 minute drive are amazing hikes, lookouts, swimming holes, and waterfalls.

Rivendell is the perfect place to escape the busy life and enjoy being amongst nature or exploring some gorgeous country towns. You get the best of both worlds here.

***Please note. This property isn’t suitable for young children under the age of 5.

It is a farm and has farm fencing (barb wire).

The property is separated into 3 paddocks. The house paddock consists of the gardens, very large grassed area, and the fire pit (this is a huge area), this also has the long driveway that leads out to the front gates.

There are two dams in the farm paddocks (one that is alongside the driveway, it has farm fencing which means small children and pets could climb through).

Please ensure children & dogs are supervised at all times.

The river and creek are in a separate paddock to the house paddock that is accessed by an unlocked but secured gate. These paddocks have cows (including calves) in them sometimes please keep dogs on leash in these areas if they are at risk of chasing after cattle.

The fencing whilst secure for most dogs, is farm fencing so dogs that like to wander off and escape artists may be able to get through, so it is recommended they are supervised.

Our dogs have been fine up here and haven’t had to worry about them, but they are bulldogs and aren’t too adventurous.

That being said it is a farm so supervision of children and dogs is essential (risk of snakes, spiders etc).

Please treat your dog for ticks/fleas as these can be risky in country areas.

This is a farm in the country, that means there are at times the possibility of insects, bush rats, mice, and snakes.
The house is treated every six months for pests, that being said there is always a risk of seeing a mouse, spider, or other insects in or around the property (and very rarely inside) luckily even with the mouse plague happening we have been able to keep them at a very minimum and haven’t seen any inside the house for a while.

NBN satellite internet is at the property at times this can be a little slow.

The smart tv has netflix, amazon prime & foxtel on demand (this has live tv but can lag at times) there is no free-to-air.

these can be remotely viewed at any time. These cameras do not show any interior of the house for your privacy.
